Dumb generic post, but I was driving around this weekend and thought "you know, I really do enjoy driving this truck".

I've had way "cooler" vehicles that were more performance/luxury oriented, but the Maverick handles/drives so well. Every time I hop in I'm content.

I was on the highway, backroads, and in stop/go traffic over a long trip today and not once got sick of being in the truck for an extended amount of time. There's a sweet spot with this truck that's hard to describe.

I also really enjoy the features of the Lariat package in my Tremor. The seats rock, plush but firm. The B&O sound system is great. It's cold AF out here in the northeast and the heated function in the seats/steering wheel do not disappoint. The AWD system has also rocked while the roads are slick.

Feeling grateful tonight I guess!
My wife just drove about 1200 miles in the last few days, in the South of Utah where we live ( we live in SLC), mostly on paved roads but also about 12/14 hours on unpaved/unimproved/gravel roads.
It is great fun and it allows us to see many fantastic things.
With the new tires on, the truck does very well on gravel/unimproved road .
On paved road my rear end starts to hurt bad after about one hour driving.
I am thinking about buying a cushion or something else.
I did not wanted to buy a pickup nor a Ford but I am glad that I did.

Most comfortable seats I’ve ever had, longest drive was only four hours.
I got no ass, I’m a skinny guy, did you get into the lumbar adjustment ? That’s what made me comfy.

My wife says I got little to no ass, my girlfriend thinks,
ā€˜ I’m a white guy and I walk with my buttocks in a very tight way~~~~’

You know it or your not cool, sorry

Between commuting to work and church and other necessary errands, I put over 600 miles/week on my Maverick, and I still find excuses to do unnecessary driving. It's just easy to drive. No, the ride isn't Town Car smooth. But it doesn't "ride like a truck" either.šŸ˜…. I drove my mother's well worn (265,000 miles) Grand Marquis on a curvy road last night. It was almost shocking how differently it handled the curves when compared to my Maverick. Some could be attributed to the age of the Mercury. But most was the inherent difference in the vehicles. In the Marquis I had to slow down for curves that I can take at full speed in my MAVERICK . On a straight road, I have to be mindful of my speed in both vehicles to keep from speeding.

Yeah I'm that old
I think I'm officially old too. I find myself driving for no reason, going nowhere in particular while driving BELOW the speed limit. But I'm still young enough to NOT do it during the times when people are going to work. And I will stay in the right lane and let them pass or speed up or pull over if I'm on a two lane road. So I'm not THAT old yet šŸ˜‚

Just got back from a long(ish) road trip in our 2024 XLT hybrid around Washington's Olympic Peninsula. Was a pleasure to drive lots of room for luggage in the back. I put down the Mabett rear seat covers for dogs. This gave more room on the back seat for the ice chest and snacks. I could also hide my backpack on the rear floor boards. Since I was not hauling the pups, I did not put up the front or side panels, just the back.
Most of the trip is 2 lane highway. Once at our destination, we would hit the forest roads for a bit of exploring.
We averaged 45 mpg! Awesome trip in an Awesome Truck.

I’m retired and don’t have much to do now except doing things around the house and yard, which is ok by me, but love going out on Long trips in the Mav with the wife. Envy the members here that have little ā€˜campers’ on the back!

Unfortunately, I still work (61) so I only get a chance to do my old man type driving on weekends. Looking forward to the days when I can be busy by choice rather than by requirement

I think tires make all the difference for the Maverick. That being said, poorly maintained roads make for a very tough ride for the Mav. It’s probably the only time I get a bit annoyed that I own it. Luckily, my 90% use case is on well maintained roads.

I hear ya brother, I retired at 57, lasted two months.
Working on my terms three days a week.

Don’t quit work and sit in a recliner watching tv. It’s a death sentence.
The pursuit of comfort makes for a shorter life.
You slow down your body slows down. That’s dying.
Check out Gary Brecka. I’m 66 and feel 40.
I’m a carnivore. :’P

After I retire, I'll probably still do auto repair at my home and mobily. But it will be on MY terms at my pace. This is much of what my dad did in addition to gardening with my mother. He also raised pigs for a while (I'll pass on that one) . And he and mother would sometimes just ride around. He lived until he was 84. Only the cancer got him. He'd had other issues. Including a bad heart valve. But the doctor said the heart itself was healthy. The remark the doctors would make even when he had serious health issues was that "nothing is wrong with him except what is wrong with him" which meant that his overall health was good. I believe it was because he kept busy. My mother is 94. She's only seriously slowed down in the last couple of years due to her knees. But she's still engaged in life and often still cooks for herself. One of her Her "younger" sisters (91) still gardens. She says that her arm hurts constantly. Her response: it's going to hurt anyway. So I might as well get up and do something while it's hurting. What else am I supposed to do, just sit here and watch it hurt?" šŸ˜… . I hope to have their attitude and determination well into my old age
