I haven’t read all the pages of replies so forgive me if this has already been stated. The Ranger is fine but a proper body on frame truck. It will be larger, thirstier, and more capable of truck things (towing etc). But it will ride more like a truck and presumably more expensive. And owners have noticed a dated and cheap looking interior and a design that Is older.

The Maverick will he smaller in size, better on fuel and ride like the unibody platform mates it is based on. But the question of when it will be built/delivered is top of mind for many buyers.

it really will depend on your needs, driving style etc.
^^^^ This...

I currently lease a 2019 Ranger that I was planning to turn in when the Maverick arrived but I might sell it to the dealer now and share a vehicle with my wife as I wait.

If you plan to or need to tow anything substantial, get the Ranger. If you plan to or already do any moderate to difficult off roading, get the Ranger.

Otherwise, wait for your Maverick. It will be more fuel efficient, have a better ride, and handle nicer. Unless, you are old school rear drive and body on frame guy like I am - then get the Ranger.

Hi everyone,

I had an order placed in October and I am feeling depressed. Feeling like I'm losing hope. Luckily I am in no rush, riding out the last year of my Prius lease but now I'm starting to think it's just not gonna happen.

Curious if anyone knows if Rangers are seeing the same issue as far as wait times on orders. Originally I really wanted the hybrid but now I'm thinking I could go without it. My commute is really minimal and I don't do a lot of driving.

Been tossing around the idea of placing an order for a Ranger or at least reaching out to my dealer.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Ranger has terrible backseat space for being a bigger truck than maverick .
when I was checking out Rangers and played with build and price tool, I found there is a backseat delete option for Supercab. There's a nice picture of how they modify it too with seat removed. I will never have a need to carry backseat passengers in my ordered Maverick or any other truck I will buy as we have an F-150 for that, but I do like the idea of a little extra room back there to stow stuff sometimes. 1 of the compromises I accepted in Maverick is the crew cab that I don't need and another is not getting the 6' bed I prefer. I'd also prefer rear wheel drive with engine mounted normally. Current Ranger is not a good fit for me, but I know the new 1 will be better and still have the 3 items I justs mentioned. I'll have my Maverick 1st and be driving it awhile before getting a look at next gen Ranger revealed. I might just go new Ranger later on if it checks those extra boxes for me.

It's tough to do, but I think you should wait. Ordered mine 7/10/21, thought I'd get in October or November, but didn't take delivery until 2/19/22. It was worth the wait. Fun to drive, versatile, and getting 45 mpg. By the way, I had a 2019 Ranger. It was pretty basic so I wanted to upgrade to a more loaded model but it would have cost about $10k more than the Maverick. Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

I would wait on a Ranger right now. The new redesign will be here soon and I'm sure there will be left over 22s on the lots due to people holding out for the new model. My local dealer seems to have a good amount of Rangers sitting on the lot which seems to confirm my theory for my locality.

Yeah, same for me. That is, I ordered in May and expected it in a couple of months but nothing yet. I stop in to see my dealer every week or two and they've been good. As helpful as they can be. Helps that I have some Ford contact and that I haven't been left by the wayside. I really was looking forward to those heated seats and wheel for the northern Illinois winter but that's history now. Only 39k miles on my Buick so I'm okay there but I have use for a truck.

There's guys waiting longer than us that are just getting their Maverick now so hang in there.⁸

Personal choice but I have owned a 19 Ranger and a new Maverick. I like the size of the Mav and the honeymoon isn't over so ask me if I still love it in 6 months. Also liked the Ranger and its a little bigger with more truck capability. They are gong to give the Ranger a facelift for 23 so maybe a 22 could be bought but right now few trucks are selling for a fair price. I could live with either one unless you want a hybrid.

For those of you considering getting a Ranger and you are in New Jersey or not far, I stopped by Downs Ford in Toms River and they have several on the lot with various options.

Same here. I ordered my Maverick in October too. I was looking at the ranger first. It would be nice if ford corp. Would contact us (the people who placed orders)about some timeline. I know they have a time line for everything else.
