Update: dropped off Tuesday, my diagnosis (wild vibration/shudder while accelerating coming from passenger side) confirmed same day, half shaft ordered, installed and picked up Friday afternoon. Could have been worse.

I did ask during puckup “should I expect the other side half shaft to go bad too?”. The immediate answer: “no, they’re not related”. Oooookay, if you say so.

Under warranty, no charge, fun to accelerate, hard, and feel… nothing. ‘Nothing’ in this instance is a good thing.

New tires and a fully functional drive train are ingredients for a good time.

On to the day!

Got my truck back on Thursday evening. They replaced only the left one, which makes me nervous for additional issues with the right one in the future. I'm happy to report the truck drives like new again. I'll monitor closely in the future, especially as I get near the end of the powertrain warranty.

My maverick hybrid has developed the vibration when accelerating a couple of days ago, the same exact description as posted here. The truck hit the 40k mark. Would the CV axel covered under the Powertrain warranty?

Yes. Powertrain Warranty is good for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Look under EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIOD then FRONT WHEEL DRIVE or REAR WHEEL DRIVE. My owners manual it is on page #11. I had mine done on 6/9/25 no issye with my dealer.

My dealership did both sides at the same time. I know one of them was shooting grease from the boot. No sure if they other side was or they we just being cautious. And I was told they were the "upgraded/improved" design, not original design.

Covered under which warranty? I have 63k miles on my truck… it literally just started happening. Thought it was my tires as they needed to be replaced, and then an alignment fixed it for a moment, but now it’s back.
In your case, your just outside the 5 year/60K power train warranty period. Assuming you don't have the Extended Protection Plan, your best bet may to contact Ford customer service as you're somewhat close to the warranty period and this is a known problem area.

Oh no! Mine started doing this a while ago. It was very minor, and so I thought it was just the wheels. Got an oil change recently from the dealership and they rotated the wheels, but at this point, it's VIOLENT shaking if I just accelerate normally. I don't need to get up to 50% power. I only need to get up to about 45 MPH.

I have LESS THAN 22K miles on my '22 hybrid. I drive like a grandma - ECO mode every drive, and I literally set my acc at the speed limit and then manually break to stop. I have BABIED this truck, and am going to be really bummed if this is the case.

Guess I am calling the dealership to schedule service and see what the damage is.

There's no need to be bummed. The original half shafts on the '22-'24 MY are faulty and eventually will go bad. They will be replaced with the updated part. You should be happy that they will be replaced under warranty.

FYI
waaaaaaay back when it was said that you replaced both shafts on a FWD vehicle if one needs replacement. (90s) I'm sure they'll try to do warranty work as cheap as possible

Hello fellow Maverick owner's, this is my first post. My Maverick has started to shake while accelerating if I put it in sport mode or tow/haul mode it's a bit worse going up a slight grade its shakes even at really low speed, say I'm going 50mph and I put my foot into it, the Maverick will shake really bad like if the tires are about to fall off. I just left the dealer with an appointment on the 7th of June for a diagnosis and the air bag recall. I'm desperate and worried they won't be able to fix it. and I've read of other people on this forum are having the same problem, but they don't post after they take it in for repair. ANY help, advise or answers would be great. Thanks, I really appreciate it. I just had it serviced while I made the appointment and the problem was there before and after, so it's not the tires or wheels out of balance.
You need your half shafts replaced. Ford will do this at no cost to you, it's one of the recalls.

This is all very disconcerting...got my truck througha used Toyota dealership and it was in the shop for recalls when I first tried fo look at it. As of now mine has no open recalls and no shaking.

Is there no aftermarket support that alleviates this issue once and for all?
