Engine shaking while warming up

I'm hoping someone can help me to diagnose. Earlier this evening, shortly after I started the engine in my Maverick Hybrid, the engine started behaving like this. It was around 30 degrees F, and I did have the heat set to low, the seat warmers on low, and the steering wheel heater on. I turned the engine off, turned off the seat heaters, and restarted it. The sound and behavior disappeared, and I drove it for around 20 minutes.

I've had the same issue for a couple months. Pretty harsh rattle that occurs occasionally when idling in park. Goes away once I shift into gear, or when the electric motor kicks in. Today the check engine light popped up during the rattle...ugh! Headed to the dealer in a couple weeks for warranty service.

I am in Michigan where we finally have cold weather setting in after a warmer-than-normal fall and early winter. This weekend I started my Hybrid and experienced much louder than normal engine noise - enough that I stopped, rolled down the windows in the cold to listen, and was a bit concerned. Nothing /felt/ wrong, but it sounded very loud. After a bit (5-10min?) of driving, the sound returned to 'normal', so I guessed maybe it had to do with the cold. From this thread, it sounds like I am not alone in this experience.

Same here. We’ve had sub 0C temps several times in the last months and never had any problems but yesterday remote started my Mav and it rough idled… I had the hybrid rough idle TSB applied past march… thought it wouldn’t come back

My Mav is 2 months old and yesterday my wife stayed in the car with the heat on while I went in to the store, when I came out not even 5 min later the car had a really bad idle almost had a knocking sound to it and the hood was lightly shaking...

But as soon as I put it in gear it went away and didn't come back.. no lights or errors.. Is it just because of the cold weather? my screen froze twice already and the pre collision warning came on randomly without any danger around.. I also have the grabby brakes issue everyone is talking about with the hybrids.. I love this truck so much but there's too much stress with this thing...

I just had the same issue happen to me. I started the truck, backed out of the driveway and put it in park to enter an address into the GPS. The truck started shaking like it lost a cylinder and knocking. The weather was around 20 F and once I put it in gear and started driving, it went away.

noticed this very loud rattle yesterday for first time. had been running 20 minutes and driving around town already. Ice kicked in when in park and it was loud enough those around me thought my truck was broke. Similar noise the ice shut off shutter makes just non-stop. Ice had to run due to heater. I dont know that ice has ever ran in park before for me. Certainly havent noticed with remote start. Loud enough it would wake neighbors up! 6.5 months old with 3500 miles. Early may build.

Sorry for video. Was just trying to record the noise loudest in driver side wheel well. Didnt want to pop the hood.

Thanks for the offer but I'd rather never go to or contact my dealership again after the whole maverick/sales experience.

FWIW yesterday ran in park for 30 minutes no issue. Only difference was 25F instead of 15F outside.
