I’m happy waiting for the Maverick. Even if I hadn’t been scheduled, I’d shop for other things besides the Santa Cruz. Yeah, it has a nice interior, but there are other options I’d gravitate to before I’d even go look at an SC.

Nope, no difference economy wise with the way the transmission works.

The BS can in Badlands trim has extra gear to act as a rear locker, but when cruising as it would for the EPA cycle its just driving the front wheels, same as in the Escape and Maverick. All trims would send 0% of power to the rear, keeping it disconnected for economy when cruising just like an Escape or Maverick does.

The BS is not full-time AWD like a Subaru if that's what you were thinking.
Ah you're right, for some reason I thought the Badlands was full time 4WD like my LX

Nope not even close. I don’t care for the look and style of the SC…

For those who don't see the huge rush: it's the resale price if your current car.

By the time Ford gets around to building your Maverick, sometime in 2022, the incredibly high used car prices will have come down.

I'm honestly considering just buying the SC now if I can find one. Yeah I'll pay $10k more and it will look goofy, but:

* It's faster,
* Same size bed but with a trunk and lockable cover,
* Better tech,
* Better interior,
* Nicer ride,
* Like, seriously, WAY better tech,

And selling the current car now could mean getting $5k more for it, which makes the SC value proposition pretty good.

You are really funny about thinking the Maverick is taking long time to get. In addition to my Maverick (Larit, Lux, Hybrid) we have a Bronco OBX on order. Looking at a another full year wait for it. Maverick is super fast to get!

The resale value of your current car has nothing to do with the price of the one you're buying though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see discounts to move the SC by year end of not a year from now. It is priced almost with the expectation of having sales incentives built in. Maverick is priced with the idea of moving to a build to order model. I suspect as Ford had already indicated this is what they want to do, that they are trying to prove their vehicles so they don't have to offer heavy discounts.

I’m not interested in the SC basically because I don’t care for the styling, shorter bed, worse gas mileage than the hybrid Maverick and I prefer the Maverick overall style inside and out.

I prefer a more traditional looking truck which I think the Maverick has vs the SC.

I’ve been wanting a fuel efficient vehicle for sometime but don’t want a car or SUV. The Ranger is too expensive and it never really did anything for me.

A week after getting a confirmation order for my Maverick I sold my 2006 F150.

I took a SC test drive this week. Very nice - loved the interior and the drive was nice. I think the Mav bed length may suit us better.

LOL, well Hyundai as a brand isn't quite at Toyota or Honda levels, but they are better than say long established brands like Ford.

The bed on the Santa Cruze is 52 inches long at the bottom and 48 inches long at the top (the back of the bed is slanted). In small pickups up to half a foot difference is pretty significant. I honestly wish they had made the Maverick 6" longer so they could have had a full 5 foot bed.
