Because the Maverick is unibody it cannot accept a front mounted plow. I now use a front mounted John Deere snowblower.
Ford Maverick Rear mounted snow plow installed 20251030_102147
But living up north I have always had a back up plan in case problems arose with the tractor.

I still have a homeowners plow that I used on my last two pick ups so I decided to mount it to the receiver at the rear of the Maverick. It raises and lowers with a winch and an arm is used to swing the blade left or right. Most homeowner Plows are less than 300 pounds, well within the 400 pound tongue weight rating for my all-wheel-drive hybrid. I wouldn’t want to rely on it for all my snow clearing but as a backup, I think it will work just fine for me.

As a bonus, the plow height is low enough so that it doesn’t interfere with the rear camera or backup lights, which will be helpful for night snow clearing.I upgraded the winch with an $80 2500 pound winch from Harbor freight that included a wireless remote.

I have a small toolbox that I use for the various items that came with the winch. I also have a lawn and garden battery in the toolbox that I use to operate the winch.

I didn’t want to fool around with making connections to the Mavericks battery so I will keep the winch battery on slow charge for the season. All I need to do is remove two wires from the winch and I can take my toolbox into the house when I am not using the plow.

Bob,
I've read your post and highlighted what I consider to be the important parts. It seems a lot of commenters have missed the fact that you have a tractor with a John Deere snow thrower on it for full-time cleaning of your driveway and that this is just a backup. 🤷🏻‍♂️
As long as you stick to your plan of using that plow on your driveway as a backup just in case, you'll be fine. I would feel more comfortable with a smaller lighter plow.
Just to be safe. I would use it as a back drag plow. Not as efficient and kind of a pain in the ass, but it'll work just fine dragging the snow.
That way all stresses are in the correct direction.
Funny thing is. Once you have it all hooked up like this you'll probably never have to use it.
To do just your driveway, you don't need a setup like this. You can use your existing plow and just drag it backward.

Take care and good luck keep us updated. If you have a chance to use it.

The smart move would be to buy an old beater pickup and put your plow on that. No need to plate or insure it as long as you only use for plowing. No point in totaling a 40g vehicle doing something that your insurance won't cover when you f it up trying to plow with it. Just my 2 cents...

A) Not the best idea
B) Not the worst idea on MTC
C) Not the first person to do this with a Maverick
D) Being "hybrid" is immaterial to this discussion.

Used a little here and there; high probability you'll be fine.

I would expect the weakest link to be the 2" hitch receiver. It will probably bend or break first, and the truck will stay usable after.

They put plows on light weight ATV's all the time.

200cc motor. ( That's 0.2 liter )

Thanks for posting up and sharing your ideas. I have a hard enough time backing up without a plow, couldn’t imagine doing it with one! That certainly is interesting.

I'm rooting for this guy. I hope it turns out great
Yeah take some video for us snowplowing with a Maverick you can make some YouTube money with it after it bends the unibody and twists the alignment so your Mav never drives straight or wears tires evenly again

The last guy that did this shot a hard core video, clearing less than a quarter of an inch of dry snow. That I can see not being a problem, but any meaningful volume of wet snow would likely crush the crumple zone under the bed, if used in reverse.

Pushing snow and towing a trailer are totally different loads.

What about pushing my 3200 lb trailer uphill in reverse (which I do about twice a month)?
