Yes please! Do not poison rodents. Because they eat the poison and don't die right away. Only for raptors or Coyotes to eat the poisoned rats in turn poisoning an unintended target and killing them.

Yes, I put a Barn Owl box years ago, not a100%. when I clean it out, there are hundreds of mice and rat skulls.

In Florida, if you live near water there are black rats that live in the palm trees. Literally tree rats. I had two injector wires chewed through on my Audi TT while I was out of town. People kill snakes, which eat rats. I dunno. Also I have 5 indoor cats here in Vermont and we get the occasional mouse in the house. Only one of them takes any interest, and she's more likely to just play with it until it gets away. Small dogs are better ratters than most (well fed) domestic cats.

1700 miles on new lariat hybrid. It’s the season for getting ready for winter. Driving last Thursday and running very rough. Get out, lift hood, rats nest. Chewed thru wires on one injector harness. Dealership says 2 connectors and short harness. $695 plus tax! They had to order connector.

After having a mouse problem in my 2024 Lariat, I started leaving the hood up overnight. This seems to prevent the nesting that I was seeing beforehand. I'm not sure if this is a great solution. But it works for me presently.

If you have rodents like that can't you put some sort of trap near the vehicle that will attract them and kill them? Or some kind of poison they can drink. I'm a believer I'll let animals live until they become a problem for me, then they must die.

The problem with poison is that the rodent you poison will be eaten by another animal, maybe your dog or cat?

Yes, as in Soybeans. Rodents love it, which really sucks.

Sorry to hear about your perils, man. I’ve had vehicles chewed on as well and it’s often difficult to find all the damaged wires. I have no helpful suggesting to prevent it.

Rodents don’t love soy plastic. They have no preference between plastic made from vegetable oil vs petroleum oil. When you cross link all of the carbons to make plastics, it makes the plastic indigestible and flavorless. Just like when you put a plastic fork or spoon in your mouth. Does it taste like crude oil, gasoline or diesel? Nope, flavorless. Rodents chew on things to keep their teeth ground down. Has nothing to do with flavor. Research has shown this wive’s tale to be false. Class action lawsuits have been thrown out because there is ZERO data that prove the “rats love soy plastic” claim.

Just do what you have to do to stop them from doing it. If you want to trap them and release them somewhere else, go for it. Or just kill them. I mean, I know that one guy said they're just animals being animals, but pretty much everything is an animal so if ants are in your house just doing what they do, do you catch each one and take them outside or do you kill them. If you have a wasp's nest on your house, do you remove it and bring it somewhere else or do you just kill them. If it's something that's causing damage do what you have to do.

In my sons Nissan frontier the rats nawed insulation off a lot of wires and also the corners, etc off the fuze box and several other things. Truck ran fine but he pulled into dealership because check engine light came on with popup to take to dealer.....
Was about $5800....

We have so many stray cats plus our share of squirrels, raccoons and skunks in our neighbourhood that we rarely see rats or mice. They dont like my house or yard since I plugged in those electronic pest repellers either. Lol

I told this story before, I was down by the water looking at a vehicle, it was raining, I had a rain jacket on, I opened the hood and a very large RAT jumped out on me trying to get traction on my Rain jacket, the guy I was with ran away screaming, I was in shock and almost wet my pants. I thought I was hardened with some of the stuff I've been through. I stand to the side when I open a hood since then.

Cabin air filter from my Dodge Grand caravan. I now spray peppermint spray twice a week and haven't had any more trouble. Spraying once a week wasn't enough. One squirt in each wheel well one under under the engine is what I do.
