Then again, if you go to a regular Big Box store Home Depot, Lowe's, Sam's, Costco, Walmart, Target and park out in The Boondocks somebody parking next to you has just cut your chances and their's of being hit in the side by a wind driven shopping cart by 50%..
What I fear more on Windy days is even with a cautious, conscientious person the wind can catch their door and swing it out into the side of the truck. I have changed parking spots to face the wind, just because of that possibility.

Cause my favourite Chinese, I mean Oriental take out restaurant is there! Best food ever .
😳
It's Asian now and yes I grew up with chop suey. Something I haven't had since the sixties and I don't care to revisit. I don't think I've actually seen it on the menu at our Chinese restaurant.
I was surprised by the amount of Asian restaurants in Mexicali.
Which was a saving grace for me because I don't like Mexican food.

Exactly my point. The OEM ones are too low and the Dawn Enterprises ones too skinny.
It wouldn't matter if the OEM ones are higher or the Dawn Enterprises ones are fatter because other vehicles will hit above or below the mouldings no matter how fat or their position.

Yes a lot of the potential dings will hit the mouldings but a lot will miss the mouldings and still ding your doors.

The commandos have gotten me twice now. (Parking lot dings) How about you?
Only one in 17 months so far. Miraculously didn’t chip the paint; just left a small but noticeable ding on the door panel.

By installing mouldings you're just trying to hopefully sway the law of averages into your favor. If the moldings would have saved me from getting the scratch on the side of my door and I think they would have. Then the mouldings would have been worth it.

A few weeks after delivery of my '23 XLT hybrid, I parked in a fairly remote section of Home Depot, only to find this upon my return.
Ford Maverick Parking Lot Commandos: Door Dings Ding1

Yes, someone had run a shopping cart into my door hard enough to make quite a dent. The lot was flat and level enough that this could not have happened by accident. Some people can really be chickensh*t when the green monster of envy takes over. I suspect their behavior will eventually catch up with them. Karma can be like that. I have since acquired a similar ding on the other side.

That picture I see way too often out and about, and it just makes me sick as to the effen idiots out there! Karma isn’t quick enough!

I always park farther away, preferably where there is no other vehicles next to mine.
If that's not possible, I try parting next to newer upscale vehicles - they usually don't just swing their doors.

But I still got one maybe 8 years ago or so. So I went and did a PDR for $150 - that was better than OCDing over that ding that I know would be getting on my nerve.

I dunno, my last car had mouldings and I never got dinged. They were wider though and about a third-way up the door. If the Maverick had a wider moulding just above the crease, I think that would cover most of the risk.

I had a cart go completely down the side of a new Monte Carlo SS once. The cart was at the top of the sloped parking lot and the wind got it rolling downhill and tore the hell out of the entire right side of that car. I know how you feel and I'm sorry for you.

Same thing happened to my old Nissan Quest. The damage was so extensive, an insurance adjuster had a hard time believing me it was a shopping card.

What do you mean? They look like they are exactly where there are supposed to be. Unless you bought the low ones and ended up putting them higher?
They came with directions with a picture showing where to place them. They gave dimensions in inches. I had mine installed higher than suggested. I parked close to my Silverado and my Focus and rested the door from both vehicles against the Maverick door. I measured both and had them installed fairly close between both contact points. The directions had the placement lower than I had them installed.

The wind got me at the Costco Gas station. Door slammed open against the bollard due to a wind gust when I was getting out to pump gas. Only a small ding, which is nice.
