Just got my first oil change done at a Ford dealer. I only have 1200 km on it, but have always done this for my new vehicles. The kicker is for semi-synthetic (which they told me is what comes in them from the factory), set me back $180.00.
Anyone else want to share their experiences?
I had my first oil and filter change at 3k miles, 5,000km, [2.0 EB] at my local Ford dealer. I alway go to their website and look for "service specials". With the coupon price it cost $55 USD including a California disposal fee. And I'm in a high price area where they add $10.5k to MSRP for new hybrid Mavs. Dealer used Mobil 1 full synthetic. My currency converter says you paid $134 USD and that is extremely expensive.

Also, if you are a Costco member, go to the Costco website, services tab, scroll down on the left for tires and service, scroll to the image for parts and service and see which Ford dealer in your area offers Costco members a service discount, usually 15%. Also in the USA, AAA offers service and repair discounts.

I have a certificate for the first oil change. After that I go shopping for the best price. Dealerships are gouging their customers and getting away with it.
I went through this back when I had a diesel Escort wagon. The dealer charged $300 for the oil change and I never went back. I started buying my oil filters from a discount auto parts store and I would take it to the local 10 minute oil change place and let them change the oil.
Unfortunately most of us don’t know how the engine works on a hybrid. If I could figure out where to dispose of the oil I would go back to doing it myself.

That's pricey. I took mine in earlier to Ford. Cost me a $103.

"The Works Full Synthetic Oil Change" costs $149.95 + tax at a dealer in Southern California.

Have changed my own oil for a decade plus now. Looking at these prices it appears I'll be continuing that choice

I think that is Canadian dollars which is about $2.75 in US money! :)

You got hosed, my friend. And I dislike that Ford uses semi synthetic "blend" oil rather than a full synthetic.

My dealer does engine for life warranty for free. That gives me free full synthetic oil changes every 5000 miles for free. You went to the wrong dealer. So far 14,890 miles and 3rd oil change is coming Monday!

If you do the change yourself, you're talking maybe $40 for oil & filter, and 20 minutes of time. I usually buy the 12 qt bulk oil container in a box, which would yield two changes worth of oil, and a little to top off in between (if needed). FL910S filters are dirt cheap compared to the Genuine Roki/Subaru 31A filters I bought for my Outback, at around $5/piece online.

You also ensure you know what was put in, and that it was done correctly!

Most every store selling motor oil will accept and recycle the used oil at no cost. Walmart, AutoZone, O'Reily, etc.
