Here’s my only problem with this entire process. Ford starts a new program where consumers can order a product instead of the dealer stocking it yet they revert to their old “allocation“ system. The consumers that ordered first should get the priority and the hell with “allocating” by size of dealer. The “new” idea for going directly to the consumer is a big dud. They should be throwing out their old system and do FIFO or just go back to the old system and just build stock orders.

I think you're right about Ford screwing people who ordered a Maverick. I don't understand why there's a single stock Ecoboost truck out there to buy when you still have hundreds of retail orders to still fill! Once the OKTB for Hybrid comes through there shouldn't be a single stock Hybrid built until all the retail orders are fulfilled! Yet I'm sure stock Hybrids will show up at some dealerships, even though Ford has said they will only make retail Hybrids first! So we'll see what the new year brings with production.

Can you link to an actual article from a reputable source quoting where Ford stated this is there intention?

Interesting observation on the allocation system. I guess it's there to reward their highest volume dealers. Those dealers presumably invest more in advertising and do a better job at closing sales. The allocation system is there to incentivize them for making those investments.

But in this particular situation, did any one of us here place an order because of the actions of their dealer? Did they see promotions? Did they get demos? Were they persuaded by a good salesperson to place an order?

Uh....no. We all read about the Maverick in the automotive press and pursued our dealers to place an order. Many of us would have order direct if state laws and the system allowed. So the point is valid, that the dealer allocation system isn't relevant to these sales or to Maverick at this time.

The dealer allocation system is extremely relevant to the purchase of a Maverick. When you placed your order is not as relevant. What dealer you choose has a direct impact on when you will get your Maverick.

As mentioned in other threads, low allocation dealers accepting more orders than they can fulfil will result in long delays for the buyers, regardless of their initial order dates. Same goes for high volume with too many orders. You need to shop around and find a dealer with more allocations than orders and/or high throughput. Regardless of who, what, where, or when you order, ecoboosts will get to you faster than a hybrid. Patience is a virtue.

Unfortunately there's quite a few of us here (not to mention not on this forum) who ordered in June and don't yet have a build date. That's especially so for those of us with hybrid orders.

I always thought of myself as a patient person, you know, good things come to those who wait kind of guy. But this is really testing me. Ordered 1st week of August, order confirmed within a hour then nothing....crickets, nothing from dealer, nothing from Ford, at least the Bronco order has given me a production date & 2 pushed dates !

there will be lots of cancellations and I’m sure some stock units that slipped through. I am tired of seeing all the stock EcoBoosts being picked up. I get cancellations but even than they should call the next guy in line for it.

I never got an email saying it was in production 10/22 I found out on the tracker got email after order but nothung else since so I know they have my email address

You missed my point...or I expressed it poorly.

I meant to say that the allocation system isn't appropriate to the current situation in which dealers did nothing to generate demand. In saying it's not relevant, I did not mean to say that there's no impact on buyers. As you state, that's not the case at all.

We love the dealers on this forum who have aggressively cultivated orders and provided value, service, and information. But I don't think that we can say that they generated demand. They have focused the demand that was out there. Their size and previous sales volume probably shouldn't have any bearing on the order in which builds are scheduled. But it does.

If I were in the industry, I'm sure I'd have a different perspective. But in this case, I'm a consumer and my interest is in having long term support of my vehicle. The buying process is a very small part of the overall experience and I'm quite flexible there. I hope that Ford's strategy emphasizes that aspect.

Long McArthur did get 118 allocations for November so it will be a busy month.

No. You make a good point. But I did take into consideration the volume of the dealer when I decided who to place my order with. And that was prior to joining MTC and understanding the allocation system. It just seemed like a wiser decision. I went with the highest volume Ford dealer in my area within an hour (there are a lot here). Paid off. As I received my scheduling email in Mid-September. I would have probably been scheduled sooner if not for the tonneau cover. I dumped that and got scheduled right away.
