nhtsa recall 26v104 "software didnt take"

I have been to the dealer twice and after waiting each time about an hour was told the "software didnt take"
I dont know what this recall is for and I dont tow so can I skip it?

Tell them to research what's up - Ford can get remote info on truck system module versions in case you are missing some other required update and tech was new and didn't catch it.

You don't need it - until you accidentally tow and forget the brake lights may not work, or trailer brakes.

You do know what the recall is for though - it's pointed out right in the paragraph What is the issue?

This usually indicates your battery is on its way out or something is plugged into your obd port unbeknownst to you, like a dealer installed tracker or something. Or you did forscan changes at some point

It happens. They have to complete it even if it gives issues. They should be contacting Ford to figure it out.

There are many reasons for failed module updates, but making FORScan configuration changes can't block Ford from updating modules OTA or from FDRS.

I dont tow either but I had mine done by Ford Mobile Service took about 10 minutes done in my driveway. Got it done before I got the notice in the mail from Ford

I need both of those recalls done.

As a service tech at a Ford dealer, I've never had an issue with either of those recalls. If the battery state of charge is below a certain threshold, they won't take but typically putting it on a charger makes it a-ok.

2024 can not get OTA updates except for the infotainment system. I asked before scheduling mine for the dealer.
