I'm considering getting a NOCO Genius to maintain my AGM battery in my new XLT. Do the '25 models have the same battery issues as earlier models? Is a maintainer necessary or just advisable?

My 25 lariat hybrid AWD will go into a saver mode after about a week . We only drive it about 50 miles or so a week right now.no alarm or alert but if I open the door the interior lights are off and the dash blank. Just hit the start button and it comes up and starts fine. I don’t think it is a bug but a feature.

i just added a cheap battery tender that I’ve been using for my other vehicles and tractors for years so don’t think I’ll have the issue again.

After a little over 3 months I've got 2170 miles on mine with no hint of battery issues. I drive it most days on 1-5 mile local trips, with longer highway drives once or twice a week. It never sits for more than a couple days at a time so not expecting any problems, unless I were to leave it for a week or two where a battery tender might be a good idea - really on any new 'smart' vehicle.

I've got a Corolla Cross hybrid too, so unlike older vehicles that could sit for long periods, I'm always trying to keep both vehicles charged by balancing usage between the two. The Maverick has been such a good vehicle that lately it's been crossing my mind to sell the Cross, but I'll probably keep them both so I have a spare just in case I get into a fender-bender and total one.

I have a 2025 Lariat that we got end January.

As stated above, I also believe that they go to sleep after a set and secret time.

We went on holiday last Feb, I had connected a Noco Genius trickle charger that can be set for AGM (I like that, as it will condition/charge the AGM battery correctly to extend its life). After about a week, I got a message that my Mav was in deep sleep or battery saver mode.

No problems when we got home, cleaned up the Noco and drove out of the garage to pick up groceries!

So, yes I suggest getting the Noco Genius is a good idea. If you haven't or won't drive for a bit, hook it up and keep your battery topped up and enjoy!

I would like to add, this is necessary for all newer ice vehicles, due to parasitic drain in all of them.

And we all might want to carry a little lithium battery jumper pack...you know, to help others who have their battery die.

After 2 1/2 years with AGM battery, I have learned that desulfating is necessary to keep the 12v battery working on my 23 hybrid.....I learned the hard way....in summer once every month.....in cold weather l do it weekly......good luck....

I have 7,800 miles on my 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid and have left it multiple times over 7 days without driving. Only once has it gone into saver mode and I have never received a deep sleep notification.

I actually posted about using my NOCO battery tender and what the correct connection points were just recently but decided not to use it as everything is working just fine.

All the trucks go to Sleep Mode after 75 min max, nothing secret about it, it's in the shop manual - meaning they should be down in the 25-50 mA range, like most vehicles these days.

The 50 mA is when the modem pings AT&T network hourly to keep the connection up, takes a couple seconds.
Perhaps a tad higher if your signal strength sucks.

During that up to 75 min while modules turn off is some higher draw potential.

Deep Sleep Mode is when the system disables the modem to cut back on some battery use, you get the alert if using Fordpass telling you no remote features available now - happens when the truck hasn't been started for 14 days, or battery goes below 9.5 V, or battery SOC goes below it appears 40%.
(that SOC value is Ford's own, not normal tables for SOC values - Ford 85% SOC = 100% full battery)

Probably too early for AGM batteries on 25MY to be having issues yet - but some people that put them into 22-24MY have started experiencing issues.
Considering some with original FLA batteries haven't had any issues yet - it appears the stars need to be aligned for them.
How lucky you feeling?

Get the 2A Noco for top off charge every so often.
And get a battery jump pack if things go really wrong.

The new models have way more electronics, so battery issues can pop up more often.

But if you’re driving it a fair amount every week, I’d say you probably don’t need a maintainer.

The 25MY has way more electronics than the pre-25MY's?

Curious what you've heard about?

Be aware - while On, the battery isn't supplying power to anything on the hybrid, it's the DCDC Converter that supplies power to the 12V system - and the 12V battery actually for charging (at least for a little while with a little power).

From all the reports on forums Ford has done nothing to solve the chronic undercharging situation with the 12v battery in the hybrid Maverick. They have blown past two dates that they had promised to release a fix by and now there is no public word for them when the problem will be fixed.

I drive about 100-150 miles a week and I have not yet seen the saver battery mode. I have been driving my 25 EB Lariat since the end of March.

Well the truck turned off the interior lights again on me but everything comes right up when you hit the start button -Been about a week since we drove it.

Doesn't seem to be related to battery charge (I have had a maintainer on it showing 100%).

Once again, I don't think it is a bug, but a feature. Never had a vehicle do that before though.

Well - it is a "feature" to keep what appears a low battery from getting worse so you indeed can start it.
But normally the question would be - why do I appear to have a low battery charge?

Now - have you during the week of no driving, been opening doors to get stuff in/out, tailgate, walking around it with key fob moving, despite having on a charger?

That could be a time-based setting then instead of Volt limit. Just like Deep Sleep is initiated after 2 weeks non-started. It doesn't know how much longer it won't be started.

It doesn't know it's getting a charge, it just logs discharge with key off - so it would see all those actions of lights if occurring, and keeping power points on for I think 60 min on 25MY. 75 min prior, after each occurrence I think.
And failsafe would be so long with no start - enable the Battery Saver functions, even if those only apply to when doors open for lights.

Guessing it's just a time-based function. I don't recall opening the doors recently but it is possible... probably been about 5 days or so since I last messed with the truck (added the quick connect to the power terminals under the hood).

FWIW the hood is left open and an extra key fob is about 10' away hanging on the wall in the garage though I don't know if either of those items would effect the way the truck goes into the sleep mode.

There's no indication or alert or message when it does this, so I assume it's just a time-based function.

You wouldn't get any alert because the Ford "engineers" (term used loosely), in their infinite "wisdom", shut off any ability to get notification of the deep sleep problem status, or access the vehicle via FordPass app.
