I've commuted a few days this fall around freezing and notice a significant dropoff in my hybrid's mileage. Commute is 29.4 miles, typically (as calculated by vehicle) getting 49-51 MPG at 40 degrees and warmer.
On cold mornings, it has been 39-44 MPG.

Trying not to comment on the name "Titsy..." And failing... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, my wife thinks 57º is cold... We moved to the Austin, TX area this June. Had about 90 days in a row with temps over 100ºF. Now it's November, and it's still 80º or better for the highs. We'll probably get some cold weather eventually (when you guys up North run out of places to put it and send us a Polar Vector), but my Prius doesn't need a warm-up yet... It did last winter, when it was 17º out.
My favorite part is your comment is you're using °, Alt248 for those not in the know.

ALT+0176, at least in Windows 10 or 11. If that doesn't work just copy it out of the character map app. Alt 248 is "╖", unless you change the defaults.

Edit: It appears that it depends on which alt key you use. If you use the left alt key you must use 0176. If you use the right alt key 248 works. Go figure.

It's 62 degrees today here in Central NY. I'm celebrating another day of above normal temps with my door open at work. 70 here this weekend which is about 20 degrees above normal.

Don't get used to it.

I wonder if the OP has purchased a hood bra for "Titsy"??? Of course, she may appreciate one on cold mornings when the wind is blowing!! :D
When its cold outside the hi-beams are visible creating drag which probably causes the loss of MPG :) :)

The Mav will start right away for a few reasons:

If the HV battery is low

If you have the climate control heat turned up to anything above ambient

You press the accelerator "more than a little".

I'm sure there's more but I'm still looking.

Once it starts, it won't shut off until the water temperature comes off the lower mark of the analog needle gauge.

Not warm enough for EV:

I envy you lol. Utah weather is like 500 degrees for months, nice fall weather for 5 seconds, and then it drops to negative a thousand degrees for the winter.

Mine usually only runs for a couple minutes in the morning when I remote start, and it’s been 28 almost every morning or less

I think the attached photos document the hybrid's Winter efficiency drop pretty well. These are from my daily commute to work of just short of six miles. It was 30 degrees in the morning with a little frost, so the extra couple of minutes came from the scraping I had to do. The afternoon was about 60 degrees. It's all on fairly level ground, so the big difference is all down to temperature. Short commutes like this impact efficiency under any circumstances...but particularly in cold weather. By contrast, during the summer months, the numbers are typically closer to 40 on the morning side. Afternoon numbers are comparable.
Once warmed up though, the cold doesn't seem to matter much at all, so it's gotta be the short commute that does the deed.
The third photo shows the lifetime average to date (You can subtract a couple....the computer always overstates it a bit.), so winter drop or not, this thing is still crazy efficient. I'm not complaining by a long shot!
