I got this notification:
Your post in the thread Ford CEO expects tariff policies to result in layoffs was deleted. Reason: WARNING: NO POLITICS.
The comment that I made named no names, no political parties, no administration. I made a comment about policy and its effects.

Does the forum have a definition somewhere of what does and what does not constitute "politics?" It's hard to play by the rules when they're not visible.

I agree I didn’t think anything in that thread or your statement was political.

Maybe I need to reread it but that was very mild. Seemed like just good conversation. We can’t ever learn or change our minds if we don’t have some kinda way to exchange ideas.
Mods probably just try and get ahead of it. That’s understandable with how some of these go off the rails fast.

There is none. It depends on the Mod's mood. Their ball, their game. I've been warned twice for no reason, and no explanation. Ask me if I care.... 😂

Have to agree here, it was a discussion of business practices. It wasn't a discussion of the politics itself, but the impact on and response from Ford is important.

The definition of politics on any forum is: "Anything the mods disagree with!"

(Actually, I have seen very little censorship on this forum)

is it political to point out that facts are sometimes subjective?

If it's subjective, it's a claim, not a fact, but today claims are accepted as facts, and facts as claims. Go figure.

Running one of these sites isn't easy. As hard as you try, on any given day moderated users will accuse the moderators of being far left, far right, and everywhere in between.

Wherever you draw the line, users will try to nudge it further and further, and will point out other examples where they think the post was worse than their own. They may or may not be right to the objective mind.

It's exhausting, and given how little these sites make on ads it's not worth the abuse. Ever. And if you had any idea what it takes to run this site you'd be shocked.

There's a few choices here really. As users you can either steer clear of topics that will obviously spiral into bad territory, post anyway and face the results, or make your own site to do whatever you want. My personal feel is that there's enough sites out there that speak about these highly charges topics at length that you don't need to bring it here. They go into detail on how tariffs will affect auto sales, so that's a great start.

Putting my jester hat back on, but seriously folks stop making the mod job suck so unnecessarily.

It's hard to follow an invisible line.
