If you knew this guy, you would not defend him. His wife sold their feed cattle operation because she did 99 percent of the work. He played with his cars. She bought a nice place in town. No more smell of 500 steers wafting in the window! The girls are living their own lives without his interference.
Like I said . . . .

When you forbid someone, like they were his property, and the "man of the house" dies from what he forbade it is poetic justice.

Had it a year ago - fully vaxxed and boosted - and it kicked my ass. My wife and I are convinced I would have ended up in the hospital had I not been vaxxed/boosted. I tested positive for 13 days. Biggest mistake I made was not getting a prescription for Paxlovid.

Hope you recover quickly.
Similar story here, my wife was in rehab for a fractured hip - tested positive for Covid and they moved her to the 'Covid Wing', I tested positive a day later. My wife had no symptoms and I had a bit of a dry cough. Glad we both had our Moderna shots and boosters. A friend got the Johnson & Johnson shot but has had Covid twice, second time got Paxovid that made recovery easier but still the J&J shot seems to be a lot less effective.

Old news, but...
The boy had gone to UK in Feb 2020 and came back with a "bad cold". No testing at the time, so just a suspicion. In April 2020 I was sicker than I can ever remember (I rarely got sick, in all of my 57 years at that time) for 3 days, didn't even get out of bed, even watching tv or reading was exhausting/nauseating. I forced myself to stay hydrated and waited it out. Again, no ez testing available. The president had approved fast-tracking the vaccines soon after, and I got the jab when available in the Summer, so I suppose I got double protection; formerly infected + vaccine. I have not tested positive since then. One guy at work has had it 4 TIMES so far, despite vaccine and previous infections; and he's careful as he can be after the first 2 times. I suspect he's just more susceptible than the rest of the population. Everyone is different, but most fall within a general category.
I personally know 5 people that died OF it (not "with" it) in the first year. All refused to get vaccinated for conspiracy theory reasons; one neighbor said "I hear the vaccine will make your balls swell up". He died two months later. Two guys of that 5 had other difficulties impacting their health, mainly being very overweight, obese, like 250lbs when for their 6' height they should have been under 175. My mom is 95 now, so 90 when it started. She was an RN and is pretty cautious and practical about infectious disease. She never caught it, but lost a lot of her elderly friends. When I go visit her now, I'll sometimes pull up and she's outside chopping wood (old people like to keep their houses at at least 90 degrees inside for some reason...even in the Summer). I hope I am not similarly cursed with such a long life. She says it's because the God and the Devil are still arguing about who has to take her.
Anyway, that's my CV19 story and experience and observations.
