Maxzina hood insulation dented the hood - Beware!

The Maxzina engine bay insulation that installs to the underside of the hood uses bolts to clamp metal bars against the cutouts in the hood. After installation I can see a dent in the hood from where the bolt pushed against it. I advise you to be cautious if you want to install one of these insulating sheets.

Oof, been there, done that. $150 for paintless dent repair left me with two small divets. You have to catch at exactly the right angle to see. I was able to find plastic rivets with plastic inserts that worked at most mounting points. I used heavy duty velcro for any saggy areas.

Yes and I believe shorter ones would fix it. But to be honest the whole mechanism is crap. They give you these little metal stubs to hold the material to the hood, and it just doesn't work well to begin with.

like the idea but is the perceived effect really worth it? and then there is the notoriously "thin" metal on the truck

Just installed the same brand in my new Maverick hybrid. So I ran out to make sure I didn’t have any dents so far it looks good.
