Just picked up my truck. Surprisingly the the dealer not only validated my concerns for the grinding and A/C but they also provided a detailed description. However, I'm very disappointed in Ford's design. I don't like this Atkinson motor/Hybrid system and the HVAC software. Likely going to be the first and last Ford I will own. For a $40k vehicle this is not what I expect.

Interesting and very detailed. Glad they were thorough with the testing. I have not noticed any grinding or strange noises when my hybrid switches from gas to EV and back. Seem very smooth to me. Similar situation with my Corsair PHEV, smooth transitions.

That seems a little high priced but easy to install. I got this from Amazon. Cut to fit and self sticking. Just as thick as OEM versions. Enough to do two under hoods and was only $40.00. Seems to quiet engine noise down just a bit and also provides a little heat rejection.

Yes, a great idea. I didn't think of it but am familiar and have used peel and stick sound proofing in a few areas on my 69 Cougar. Thank you for posting your idea.

Can anybody tell me what hood strut kit this is? I love the fact the strut only needs only one bolt to remove and reinstall which should help keep the hood aligned.
Redline Tuning hood struts. I have them on mine. Great Quality product and yes you don't have to worry about misaligning the hood during install with its design. Simple Easy Install, they were one of the first mods I did on my MY22, so far not a single problem/issue, work perfectly. Highly Recommend them!!

You should reset your expectations. Its a $40k truck, not a $70k one from the competition, and not a $120k Mercedes.

This is my first Ford and first Hybrid. This engine is very noisy. 1) there's subtle vacuum sound that seems like its sucking air in/out. 2) when the engine warming up and toggles from electric to hybrid I hear and feel a grinding that feels like it comes from the transmission tunnel near the accelerator. Both are like finger nails on a chalk board.
When you add these two big items to annoyances of A/C always turning on at start (fan speed must be at least 1) and seat belt message "OK", it really grates at me.
So, if I could address at least the vacuum sound with insulation that could help. I'm having the dealer look into the grinding and the A/C issue.
I also have an extremely loud AC grinding noise...but the dealer told me (twice) that it is normal. I may look into this hood liner kit to help quiet it down. It's not too noticeable inside the vehicle, but if I'm standing outside with the AC running it's downright embarrassing.

That's a bit sad. I was hoping Ford would acknowledge the problem. I have Toyota Prius as well (Hybrid) and the AC doesn't make any unusual noises at all.

Why is that sad? Everything is working as intended, which means there is no actual problem. What are they supposed to acknowledge, that the customer prefers the exhaust note and the noise, vibration and harshness of a BMW or Mercedes over a Ford?

Well...If you actually heard the noise you would probably agree that it is a ridicuously obnoxious grinding noise. Just strange that they wouldn't use a hybrid compressor(quiet) like other manufacturers use.

My maverick hybrid makes some noises, but I wouldn’t describe them the way you are. Are you sure that some of the sounds you are hearing are not the federally mandated artificial noises that electrified vehicles are required to make below a certain speed?

It's only when the AC compressor is running. and if I ramp up temperature (down to Max Air) the pitch changes and it gets louder. Really noticiable in electric mode.

No, I recognize that sound and its ok. I've lived with this for nearly 6 months so I'm certain of what I'm hearing.

To a degree, yes but I've had plenty of $40k cars that I've never encountered this at all. NVH is something that relates to design & quality control and it seems Ford missed the mark. Once you hear and feel it its very irritating. Its a shame since this truck has many great qualities. I just wish Ford would address these NVH issues.
