We purchased a 2024 maverick in November, we went back in December to do the down payment and set up loan stuff . When we first talked with the dealer they said there is a recall but we could drive it home in December when we pick up up . We did all the paperwork they took our down payment and after we signed everything and we were on the hook they said we couldn’t take the truck because now it’s a safety recall preventing us from taking the truck but the update is being worked on and should be a week or two . We have made the first payment and still no truck . Now they are saying could be as late as March . We are going angry and tired of the frustration now we hear of other problems plaguing this truck . We love the concept we love the design but we are ready for almost anything else . When I asked if we already owned one and you brought it it they would keep it because of the safety recall . So don’t bring in your truck till they have a fix . Where are everyone else at ?

Imho they have no right to take your money and keep the vehicle, if they knew about or even if they didn't knew the right approach is giving your DP back, or use for a new one.

Try to get them to refund you, or try to Look for legal advice.

This is the 2nd time I've heard of this scenario. The other person has made a couple payments. They actually made him bring his truck back a couple days after he took delivery. They gave him a Ranger loaner that he's been driving for over a couple months now.

Seems to me that lemon laws ought to apply, right? But we're talking law, and law is convoluted and sometimes seems incompatible with common sense. But essentially you bought a vehicle, and you would think the clock is ticking for the lemon law "vehicle being serviced" rules. These vary by state, if the state even has a lemon law.

I feel for the 2024 "owners" in this Catch-22 scenario. The right thing for Ford to do is offer some sort of "apology incentive" after the fact. Are you listening Ford?

24S59 is still "advanced notice" only. Ford hasn't even updated dealers about what the repair procedure will be.

And no, for this recall, the dealer wouldn't keep your truck if you brought it in for service. It is not a "stop drive" recall. But new vehicles can't be sold if this recall is open.

I would confirm those dates in Nov.

Yes at some point it became a stop sale - for one poster paperwork Fri night, stop sales over the weekend - he couldn't take home on Mon (or close enough to terrible timing).

But if your dealer already had the info and went thru with it making a promise they could not keep, especially if in print - you got something.

That makes sense, the latest supplement for 24S59 is dated 11/22/24, which was a Friday.

the OP is owed a loaner free of charge until his truck can be delivered.

Own a 23 XLT Hybrid which is in the backup recall, backup does freeze but not very often and for a very short time so I don't notice it much. Mine has done some weird electronics recently though, it will honk the horn twice when I start the car or open the door to leave after turning it off. Hasn't happened enough to say anything to the dealer just weird. Makes one wonder how well the software will perform in a few years.

The way I handle these issues. Calmly walk in. Smile on face. Ask for manager. If not available, wait. Explain issue. Say" I am leaving here in my vehicle or an equal loaner. You chose. "
Then sit down and wait and don't leave.

In my opinion, they owe you a loaner until it is ready to drive. No different than if they had to service or repair your vehicle under warranty. Demand a loaner or rental at their expense.
