Success????The author seems to be taking the Maverick's success as some kind of personal offense.
just plain silly. The plant is maxxed out with the 3rd shift coming onboard, the Mav isn't the only ride being made there - if Ford wanted to up the base XL hybrid to 25$ they'd have the same audience and it would give them more profit. Put a bunch of 25K base mavs on lots and they'd be gone in practically no time. 'Nobody wants them'? Just foolish and has no basis in reality. Also like when he disses all of the positive publication reviews of it like he is some expert and they don't know what they're talking aboutCheck out this article. Ford would build 500 k mavericks. Why? Because over 70% of orders are customers of Toyota Honda Nissan Volkswagen Suburu BMW Mercedes etc
I traded my Subaru Outback on a 22' Maverick and I'm hooked on it. I don't need or want a full size truck, and the mileage is good too.Ford would build 500 k mavericks. Why? Because over 70% of orders are customers of Toyota Honda Nissan Volkswagen Suburu BMW Mercedes etc
The maverick with 1,500 lbs of payload is wimpy? So what does that make full size off road versions of trucks that have an even lower payload than the maverick? There are trims of the ram and tundra that have payload ratings of like 1,200 lbs. But sure, those are the "real" trucks because they have frames. I swear, traditionalists in the auto industry are just straight up retarded a lot of the time.Check out this article. It makes a good point about Ford not really wanting to produce more Mavericks. Exactly, not a minivan, but our 2017 explorer has a payload of 1,700 lbs. She's a beast, but not the best for carrying larger, bulkier items. The interior curves in quite a bit towards the top, so if you have boxy, bulky shit, it's not going to work out.I do stand by the idea that ford created the maverick to adjust their fuel economy standards and have F150+ drivers exorbitant price tags subsidize it. Not realizing that there's a huge group of people tired of either a tiny car, bloated SUV or oversized overpriced truck.
His big claim is towing capacity for why maverick is a failure and that a minivan would work. In what would is a new minivan anywhere close to mavericks price tag? And.... I haul greasy, rusty crap around. I'm not putting that on the back of a minivan.
There's more than weight and towing for a truck. Sometimes it's not wanting to ruin your trunk or its light but oversized. Like helping someone move. Minivans aren't great for furniture or beds or dozens of boxes. Trailer or not.
The manufacturers have given up on this market long ago. And shock that Ford misjudged the interest and refuse to give up the golden F-150 goose.
Those who purchase the Maverick are well aware of what it can or cannot do. It's interesting that the author made the statement that a minivan could perform the duties of the Maverick. That's partially true and why I bought a Maverick. I'm a landlord, and I destroyed the interior of my wife's minivan using it to carry lumber, tools, yard supplies and everything else that would fit. My Maverick gives me a lined bed so the cab doesn't take such a beating. Also, I can now carry appliances and other tall items that wouldn't fit in a minivan, etc. The one thing he says that makes sense is selling Mavericks will cannibalize the sales of its larger trucks. Each Maverick sold may result in an unsold Ranger or F150. However, given the success of the Maverick, a half-dozen manufacturers will soon be offering competing trucks and will no doubt lose some market share. Thus the problem may solve itself.Check out this article. It makes a good point about Ford not really wanting to produce more Mavericks. The rest is mostly hyperbole.
