Thank you, I stand corrected. So, was the Blackwood just a fancied up Ranger?
The Blackwood WAS based on the F-150, It had it's own shorter bed on 139" wb, the F-150 crew was 145, the SuperCab was 139 with 6.5 bed. That 139 wb and shorter bed later became basis of Raptor

It would be an interesting styling/upgrade exercise, but I can't see Ford spending time and $$$'s to develop a very limited appeal Lincoln/Maverick. Yup, the plastic interior would have to go. It doesn't scream "LINCOLN" but I'd love to see one!

I saw a Blackwood in traffic a few months ago.

When the Blackwood went away, the F150 Platinum was created, but IMHO if you get in an F150 Platinum it is *nothing* like sitting in a Nautilus with the entire dash being a 48" wide screen.

I don't get why Lincoln exists if I'm honest. But I guess Acura and Lexus are still here, and Hyundai just made Genesis not that many years ago.

As it relates to a Maverick:
I wouldn't bother with a Lincoln Maverick, but I could see a Platinum trim offering cooled seats, heated rear seats, rear air vents in the lower center armrest, better dash, etc. But would anyone pay 50k+ for that? I'm not so sure about that.

Maybe smarter to make that an option package for the Lariat and Tremor, and see if anyone opts them.

That's back when a full sized truck wasn't much if at all, larger than a midsized. Due to marketing and the CAFE standards truck makers used to build giant, lush, more expensive trucks. Which leads me to this one. Volunteering to pay a higher price for badging and status. Trucks actually got smaller in the 90s, I believe.

Blackwood was based off of the F150... It was aweful cheap badge engineering... A Lincoln with the Mavericks recycled blue plastic interior would only cheapen their already struggling branding...
Someone would buy it though; just to complain about the cheap interior.

Really! My son-in-law's 92 GMC Sierra was the same size as the one today, it just didn't look like a cement block. F 150s were the same size just a little more stream lined than today's version.

Middle to late 90s into early 2000s. Really!

Some folks are just a little slow to comprehend. Blackwood was just a rebadged F-150 and never was there a Lincoln compact truck. Never, ever and won't ever be. Who in their right mind would pay upwards of $60,000 for a rebadged Maverick? All that development cost and advertising for a tiny little market is absurd. I feel as if my bank account was rode hard and put up wet after buying a Maverick Lariat Hybrid AWD.

Some are willing to pay a high cost for status and look at me factor.

I can see where a person might think that the Lincoln Blackwood would be a Lincoln variant of the Ranger, it is the size of a current Ranger, or at least very close.

Not really. The F-150, Bronco, etc. 1/2-ton chassis reduced in size in 1980 (7th generation F-150). That chassis remained mostly unchanged in size until the larger 1997 F-150 (10th generation F-150).

If they stuck to the then Lincoln Motor Company mindset it would be neat to see a luxury compact truck with a larger engine. As quickly as people forget the Blackwood is an F-150 they also forget that the 4V Intech 5.4L was a banshee of a motor and the basis for the Cobra R. I know it would be a ridiculous market for Lincoln so I don't expect it to exist but I do really enjoy the Lincoln Corsair and had considered one until they took away the 2.3 engine option. I do agree though, bring a Platinum trim in to keep it simple and call it a day. They already have a Platinum Ranger in Australia as well so the branding would be something they are not likely to give up simply to give Lincoln more options, they're hard set on targeting ultra luxury lifestyles which really doesn't crossover into too many truck owners. Wives want enclosed cargo space and quiet cabins to yap in
