Sometimes I wonder why Maverick was not named Ranchero

I think Ranchero would be a fine name.
Maybe because when I see the name Ranchero I think I see Rancho and think cattle dung :poop: on a ranch.

Everyone I know with a Maverick is two decades (or more) older than that...
Yes. Ford assumed it would be first time new vehicle buyers that would buy the Maverick. In reality most buyers are middle aged or older.

I think the marketing department liked the Maverick definition of " behaving differently from what is usual or expected" vs. the Ranchero definition of being "one who owns or works on a ranch".

Considering they are built in Mexico, we're lucky they didn't name it the "Burrito".
You can call your trucklett anything you like.

BTW - When prepping to repaint a Ford Falcon, we took off all the chrome lettering and considered renaming it the RACOON, but didn't.
Maybe Ford is saving the "Ranchero" name for a new pickup they may come out with soon?

Possible, yes.
Likely... The jury is out on that one, but the safe bet is a no.

If they intended on using that name for a vehicle like the Maverick, they would have, but I don't see where it would fit in the lineup..

Is the name really that important? Would you trade in a Maverick for a Ranchero just because it was called that? I doubt many would.

Ranger should have been the F100, and the Maverick should be the F50

I’m guessing demographics of everyone you know with a Maverick probably line up pretty well with everyone you know.
Actually, no, as my friends go across the age spectrum, whereas those I know with Mavericks tend to be "more seasoned", and obviously astute enough to decide to buy such a great vehicle...
