You mentioned early on you did not confirm oil level when new, so you *may not* even have an oil problem.

Did you ask the servicing dealer how/why they determined a defective radiator is the cause?

After they flushed the coolant they said there was still a lot of aluminum filings in the new coolant.

If you truly have aluminum pieces in your coolant, your dealer should be contacting FoMoCo.

Ford can take a sample of the coolant and analyze it and determine exactly where the aluminum is coming from.

Seems odd they are just throwing a radiator at it.

Update : about 800 miles after the radiator replacement my engine coolant tank was below the minimum line and the oil is about a half quart low. It's back at the dealership awaiting diagnosis.

This is not sounding very reassuring

No, my oil life is still over 50%
Don't go by the guidance system. Change your oil around 5K miles or 6 months. Always.

This. At most, a yearly regiment for those who don't put that much mileage on their vehicles. Very few people use their vehicles for the "recommended service levels". If you ever read the manual, you'd see that means a majority of highway miles (90% or greater) and majority of flat roads with very little idle time. Recommended service intervals are perfect scenario recommendations.

5-6k max for oil or at least once a year.
