If this is accurate, it'll probably have a shorter hood with cab forward proportions. Ignore the slanted thing over the bed, pretty sure that's an optional too to improve areo that doubles as a pullout tent. So remove that and this could be what the truck looks like.

Don't know how reliable the source is but as overpriced as EVs can be and are I don't think I'd be interested for quite some time at least unless the prices come down comparable to ice vehicles.

....and REDUCE the wiring harness by 4,000 feet ?

So ....if a vehicle is 20 feet long , that's 200 wires from bumper to bumper they're going to remove ..... I don't think so ....
It's 4000 feet of wire and don't doubt that for a second. You think Ford made that up just for their announcement so you could second guess them on a forum? Rivian did the same thing X2(8448 feet) G1 to G2 on their R1 producttion.

Rivian reduced the wiring harness length in their Gen 2 vehicles by 1.6 miles (2.6 km) and 44 pounds (20 kg), primarily through the implementation of a zonal electrical architecture. This architecture consolidates numerous Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and simplifies the overall wiring layout

And the technology won't suddenly appear without development. Incentives to buy EVs help fund development, and give customers a break.
I agree with Post #49. I don't agree with the Incentives=development concept personally. The industry need to work as a team to develop a solid platform, then each mfg can individually tweak it to their liking on their product to match their preferences
IMO, taxpayers should not have to pay their tax dollars provide incentives to any certain realm of people or technology "to give them a break". Either provide incentives to ALL or NONE
That's my 2 cents on the subject, opinions will vary, nothing wrong with that.

No this is a marketing ploy by Ford to try and offset the Q2 losses and keep stock price afloat with bullshit news.

Ford lost money hand over fist on their $45k f150 lightning that the prices ballooned quickly into the $70k range and they still lost money.

Now they want me to believe that older less dense battery technology is going to enabled them to produce an AMERICAN manufactured electric truck for $30k and still make a profit?

It’s not going to happen.

OR it's Ford pulling a ton of inefficiency out of a legacy assembly line process and they get as close as they can to their targets. Battery technology matters little if range and price targets are met.

Farley did not say much about what "kind" of EV. I am betting it will be an Extended Range EV. Solves the #1 problem with plug ins, range anxiety. Solves the #2 problem, giant expensive batteries. Solves the #3 problem, giant heavy batteries. Solves the #4 problem, heavy tire wear because of problem #3. Solves #5 problem, high cost of replacing problem #2. According to autoevolution EREV sales increased 83% in 2024, to 1.2 million. They are coming to a dealership near you in 2-3 years.✌

Gee and Toyota lost 9.5 billion, but the Japanese government will help them out if needed because they need Americans to buy their products.
Not sure I recall hearing where Toyota lost 9.5 billion, but I could be wrong. I do know that Ford paid (amount unknown, but probably millions) to license and use Toyota hybrid technology. I assume they were having issues trying to figure out their own and failed. Besides, they still have issues with simply keeping a battery charged in our Mavericks. It's ok to buy the tech from someone if you are too stupid to figure it out on your own. We need to ask why our R&D people here in the U.S. seem to have so many problems keeping up with others in the world.

Wouldn't mind Ford bringing back something like this in a hybrid or EV, say 500 HP, 300-400 mile range, 3-passenger bench seat. I'd be tempted to buy one.

Some of y'all are funny. There is NO WAY Ford can build an EV that sells cheaper than most others and has a long range.

Most people in the USA only drive 40miles/ day.

If companies cooperated with other and worked together they could easily fund all the R and D that they need - the problem is that they all want to go in their own corner and re-invent the wheel on their own, likely duplicating much of what others are doing and in the end something pops out and gets adopted as the 'right answer'. Or not. There are labs all around the planet that are working on this independent of any government money, there is no big dire requirement that something get developed and implemented immediately - it's not like we don't have existing technology that gets us around, they can take their good old time and work together and come up witih something that makes EVs at least palatable and acceptable to the masses.
Name a technology where capitalist industry worked with each other and worked together to fund R&D for all.

EVs are already palatable an acceptable to at least hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people. They are also a good idea for fleet vehicles that make lots of short urban trips.

I'm not even a fan of them (I don't like hybrids, either), but I can see the utility and desirability of EVs. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean nobody likes them and they're useless.

So a roughly 50-55 kwh battery. At 3 mi/kh (similar to M3, not likely) you're looking at best case 150 miles range.

So basically, a Slate, but with 4-doors.

I always knew I was an oddball! I've put 73000 miles on my 2022 Maverick hybrid
I just really like driving my Maverick

Actually they tried it with airbags and other safety tech that was coming in in the 90s, but .gov threatened them with the monopoly stick.

ETA: maybe 80s rather... I am foggy on exact details.
