The 25 Ecoboost gets the port injection to address the intake issues with GDI engines. But I would snag one up before the next builds start rolling out with the GPF filters. We are getting mixed messages about which markets are affected by the GPF. Some reports say only the CARB states will be forced to have the GPF filters. Hopefully that is the case.

Most manufacturers today are making good vehicles. Just pick what comes closest to what you need and want. I would make sure you have dealers and service centers close to you as their support is pretty important with vehicles that are having teething pains. As for the cold feet, get some slippers. LOL

I almost bought a Maverick about a month or so ago to replace my 2004 Ranger (handing it down to my kid, what a champ the Ranger's been) when, on the way to the dealer, I received a call that a Stop Sale had been implemented and my wife and I had to turn around and go home empty-handed (I had already driven one previously but hated the stock interior). After sitting on it for a week, I decided to just go ahead and order one from a dealer closer to me with everything I wanted and nothing I didn't (Eruption Green XLT, Ecoboost, Black Appearance Package, Luxury Package, Spray-In Liner). Got the employee pricing, so we're sitting at $34,500 (this includes delivery/destination) plus registration, doc fee, etc. Since then, all I've had time to do is more research. Here, Reddit, YouTube, etc. The Maverick looks like everything I want, but the constant recalls and issues- leaks, battery drain, CLIPS even, etc. - have me a bit spooked as the build date (week of 6/30) grows ever closer. I have a whole checklist of things to look over and test when the truck is delivered, but that will only tell me so much and can't cover everything. You all have so much knowledge and experience. Are you happy with the purchase? Would you get one again? Would you recommend it to your friends and family? Are the stock speakers THAT bad? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I’m delighted with my cheap 2023 XL. I wish I had bought two of them. At the 2025 Maverick prices, I might buy it again, but I would also would be considering other options.

Do you like to keep your vehicles nice? If so, you probably won’t like the interior and exterior Maverick plastics. They scratch and scuff super easy, and due to the textures there is no effective scratch removal.

How are you fixed for money? The Honda Ridgeline starts at $41,600. The one step up model starts at $44,430. If I were buying today, I would prefer the middle grade Ridgeline over a Maverick Lariat.

A friend of mine has a 2025 Ridgeline and I have not driven it but honestly I think is a lot better than the Maverick. Better design, build quality, and materials. It has a 5.3’ bed versus the 4.5’ bed for the Maverick. He says his Ridgeline has been flawless.

My XL Hybrid beats his Ridgeline on gas mileage and price, but nothing else.

The model has had no significant issues in my opinion. But there is absolutely no getting around the fact that it's built to a low price point, whether you buy an XL or a $42,000 Tremor. The plastics are abysmal.

As far as the 2027 Slate goes.
By the end of this year we'll know whether Congress ends the $7,500 rebate
View attachment 213559

At that point you'll be talking about a $27,000+. Bare Bones 2door, seating for 2, crank window's, manual mirrors, one paint color, full EV capable of 150 miles.
20250620_102637.jpg
That's a really common slam on the Slate, and I get where you're coming from. People love to slam the bare-bones version, or whether Slate will survive to deliver a single truck. All valid`. I'm content to watch and see. I have a $50 deposit on the thing just for giggles, and I honestly don't care if I ever collect on it.

But nobody seems to actually give much thought to the options packages Slate offers, or what you're actually able to buy. To replace my 22 XLT ECO LUX AWD CP360 SIBL with a new Maverick is north of $37,000. I know because I literally priced one out yesterday at Asheville Ford. To be fair, that number came down to around $35,000 with employee pricing and a $1,000 veteran bonus.

AWD, power windows, heated seats, longer range battery - all options. Do they drive the price up? Well, as long as the price stays below $35,000 it's a win for me.

Incentives? Who cares - you don't put gas in it for the life of the vehicle. That's my incentive. Zero maintenance. That's my incentive. No scratches. That's my incentive. No two-extra-doors-that-I-don't-want. A nimble truck that is two feet shorter than the Maverick with a bigger bed and a "frunk". That's my incentive.

Slate will be fun to watch. They may do a Canoo and vanish one day. Or not. It'll be interesting either way. Personally I hope they make it. Because competition of any kind in the small truck world is a winner for all of us.

I think it all depends on just what you normally use your truck for. I bought a 2022 XLT Hybrid that I am completely satisfied with. The pluses for me are: I can park the truck in my garage - it gets great gas milage (37.9 mpg to date) - it is easy to drive and comfortable, plus it looks great. I am in the process of replacing the toilets in both bathrooms and today I picked up 2 at Lowes. They both fit (boxed) in the bed with some room left over. In the past I have been able to carry 40 bags of mulch in the bed. So for light load truck needs this is a perfect vehicle. For heavy truck work you may be better off with a new Ranger. Good luck.

That is really sharp looking. Have you opted for the tailgate lettering yet?

My experience has been most reliable vehicle I've bought in many years...Currently 31,000 miles 3 1/2 yrs old, most of the recalls could have been done at one time...all have been very minor. Only one issue, a loose dash screen cable.

I would definitely buy again but my 2022 XLT fully loaded with options was $24,370+tax...and it is a little of a stretch to go up to $35-40,000...my favorite feature is definitely 42.5 mpg...gas up once a month.

Yes I purchased the stainless steel 3D letters it reflects the color of the truck - maybe hard to see here every angle looks different the picture doesn’t do the lettering justice

I bought my 2023 Ecoboost about 2 years ago with 666 miles on it. It had AWD, SIBLING, BAP, and Pilot360. Also had a Homelink mirror. Yes, I've had a a few recalls but they were minor and taken cared of. So far my Maverick has performed like a champ. I payed $40,500 BUT I also got $20,500 trade in for my 2021 Corolla. I financed a little over $18,000. I now have 20,830 miles on it and it has been solid. At 75, I intend this Maverick to be my final vehicle as it does light duty.

I've always secretly coveted that color. Very rare for me to see one. Maybe twice in 3 years.

I lucked out. There were only 3 Mavs on the lot and this one had all the options I would have chosen if I were ordering one. I like the color as well.

The Ridgeline is better than the Maverick in some ways because it's in the class with the Ranger in my opinion. It's a midsized truck. It's just a unibody vs body on frame. But it's still more in the Ranger class. The only thing in the Maverick class is the Santa Cruz. And you either like it or you don't. I don't.

That's about the only thing I'd change about my Maverick. If they had a green one on the lot, I'd have gotten it. Instead I have an Oxford White with the Blackout package. It's nice. But that eruption green is 🔥

The BAP does a nice job with the white, some fantastic contrast.

For such a silly thing (except fixing that interior, which was NOT for me), the BAP does do a lot of nice little things to class up the look. I looked at the cost and cringed, but it works.

warm those feet up. 😅. I'm a tech at a Ford dealership. The only reason I knew that there were so many in the road is because of the recalls ( minor software updates) because we don't really see a lot come in for repairs. A few here and there. But not enough to even notice a pattern. In fact, I bought one. An XLT hybrid 4wd with the black appearance package. My only real regret so far is that I could not afford the Lariat . But I bought it because it was a reliable vehicle that met my needs and looks pretty good. Even if I had the money, I probably would have chosen the Maverick over the Ranger simply because I don't need all of the rangers capabilities
