Here, Reddit, YouTube, etc. The Maverick looks like everything I want, but the constant recalls and issues- leaks, battery drain, CLIPS even, etc. - have me a bit spooked as the build date (week of 6/30) grows ever closer. I have a whole checklist of things to look over and test when the truck is delivered, but that will only tell me so much and can't cover everything. You all have so much knowledge and experience. Are you happy with the purchase? Would you get one again? Would you recommend it to your friends and family? Are the stock speakers THAT bad? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I hear where you are coming from. Had the same issue prior of buying my XL a couple of months ago.
Not sure if I would buy it again. All in all, I love the little truck and its gas mileage. But my concern is its longevity and reliability. Just yesterday I had a completely dead battery, and this truck was built in March of this year. I was really ticked off that this happens nowadays on a brand-new car with 2200 miles on it. But I knew about it and hoped I would not be affected. The same with the dash and its associated small rattles. But then maybe I expected too much from a vehicle for under 30K.

Wished there were more options out there who offer a similar vehicle - don't care for the Hyundai and they have their own issue as well.

PS: the speakers are not bad at all. Works perfectly fine for me.

I almost bought a Maverick about a month or so ago to replace my 2004 Ranger (handing it down to my kid, what a champ the Ranger's been) when, on the way to the dealer, I received a call that a Stop Sale had been implemented and my wife and I had to turn around and go home empty-handed (I had already driven one previously but hated the stock interior). After sitting on it for a week, I decided to just go ahead and order one from a dealer closer to me with everything I wanted and nothing I didn't (Eruption Green XLT, Ecoboost, Black Appearance Package, Luxury Package, Spray-In Liner). Got the employee pricing, so we're sitting at $34,500 (this includes delivery/destination) plus registration, doc fee, etc. Since then, all I've had time to do is more research. Here, Reddit, YouTube, etc. The Maverick looks like everything I want, but the constant recalls and issues- leaks, battery drain, CLIPS even, etc. - have me a bit spooked as the build date (week of 6/30) grows ever closer. I was so tired of the dealer baby games I almost didn't buy one. I found a 23' with 2500 miles on it. I am really happy with this truck. It drives well and the construction is surprising solid. I have had no recall issues yet but expect to. The government really forces manufacturers to recall anything that poses even the most unlikely safety risk. All manufacturers have been affected by these recall.

Signed, A very fussy vehicle owner.

If it helps, Toyota and Honda models sharing similarities with the Taco and Ridgeline are frequently in "Top 10 most stolen" lists, whereas Maverick's platform mates Escape/Corsair are known to appear in "least stolen" lists. The commonality of systems would indicate Mav to share the theft resistance.

Thanks, everyone (and hey, thanks to the forum software for suggesting similar threads where this has been asked). Sounds like so long as I go into it clear-headed, under no illusions any car is perfect - I've had good luck with my last two buys - it's still a solid value. Much appreciated.

And yeah, the Ranger isn't even leaving the property when the kid isn't driving off to school, or work, or what have you. For the real dirty work.

You will love it! I liked my 22 hybrid xlt so much that I traded it in for a 25 xlt because I wanted the AWD hybrid with Tow package.

I'm rolling at high 40's MPG on this tank and my payload is 1501 lbs. MSRP 28k. There simply isn't anything comparable per dollar. Not even the same sport. Complete and utter anomaly in the car market. I've got an 8 yr /125k premium warranty too.

Is that the one through Granger? I've been eyeing that as well once I'm satisfied with the purchase and thinking long term.

I’ve had my ‘22 hybrid Lariat since 27 Oct 22. I have just over 30K miles on it. Besides the recalls, which have all been taken care of free of charge by Ford, it is the best truck I ever owned! I love everything about my Mav! Best truck I ever had!

Well between myself and my close circle. I know of 5 that are ecoboost and not one single problem. One high milage delivery truck, 3 are for traveling construction. So I haul a lot and drive a lot.
And one for everyday running around. Not one single major issue. Camera recalls and that’s about it. Most are up close to 100k of hard use with zero issues.
I will buy another and at 34k out the door that’s a good deal.

On 12/31/24 I took my 2024 Eco AWD Lariat home.
Now at 5,300 flawless miles and I am extremely happy.

OP, I get the nervousness. I've got 32,000 reliable if boring miles on my Ecoboost. That said, I have zero intentions of buying another Maverick. It's not a cheap ride any more (even with the employee pricing and adjusting for inflation). And all kinds of industry intelligence is hinting at multiple small truck competitors arriving over the next few years (Toyota, GM, Kia, Slate, and more). So I'm personally content to sit back and see what appears in competing showrooms between now and 2027.

When somebody on the street or a friend asks me about my Maverick, I always answer that it's hit and miss when it comes to quality, and that I will NOT personally promise that they won't buy one of many lemons Ford seems to consistently build. I tell them I personally had a good experience so far, but it included 4 recalls on my truck (free and done in my driveway) and a premature tire wear replacement (at 30,000 miles). Then I'll tell them to come to MTC and just browse.

In other words, I am not in a zillion years gonna put my reputation as a car guy on the line for the Ford Maverick. It's far too inconsistent in terms of quality, and it's no longer a price bargain.

For every "x" Joes that get a great Maverick, it seems that one Billy gets a nightmare Maverick. I think that's a fair description of what we're seeing out there. I just can't say what "x" is. It might be, "Don't buy a Maverick that was built Thursday at 3 PM". I dunno.

PS: Quantitative industry quality surveys do not support the OP's slamming of Hyundai quality compared to Ford. In face, it's exactly the other way around. Hyundai consistently ranks well above Ford, and their recall and warranty costs are billions lower (Ford spent $9.5 BILLION on warranty and recall last year).

Appreciate the clarifications. Did not mean to slam Hyundai directly, just what I'd seen online, which I admit is a great way to confirm some bias.

By far the best vehicle I've ever owned. '22 Lariat Ecoboost with 30k problem-free miles.

14 months ownership, no issues with my 2024. I'd absolutely buy it again.
Speakers depend on personal preference. They sound great to me but I grew up with AM radio, so anything built in the last 50 years sound great.
