The hood struts are expensive, probably more so here in Canada, for something you only use once in awhile. The tailgate assist takes away the oem tiedown, not really interested in either but it`s a matter of choice.

Hey,I love my tailgate strut. Makes things simpler. I have a second new unopened DeeZee tailgate strut kit if anybody is interested in it. Was going to get wife a maverick too. Didnt work out.
Yes.Hey,
With the strut, can you still put the tailgate halfway down? like to haul longer items?

I've seen some older, classic struts...I'm not sure they make 'em the way they used to...Looking for input on is it worth having the strut assists for the tailgate and the hood.
Just wondering ....... Your thoughts?
Yes, but you will lose the driver side tie down on the tailgate for securing loads like that. Not worth it to me but to each their own.Hey,

Yes. One day it took 2-3 minutes to fully open. It opened half way at normal speed, and seemed to stop. Walked away for a few minutes, heard a popping noise (likely the ice on it breaking) and it then slowly went the rest of the way down. No trouble since then, and back to normal operation once we got above freezing again. The tailgate strut is a must for me now. I will note for everyone that it is unbearably slow in the cold weather. Cant force it faster or it screams back at you.
I thought the same, but for $28(back in May) bought the tailgate assist. No criticism of anyone who gets it ... but I don't get the appeal, especially for the cost.
I got the hood struts for less then $50.00 on Amazon. work great!I don't see how the hood struts are worth anywhere near $140. That's kinda nuts to me. How often are you even under the hood? How hard is it to use the prop arm?
To get the tie down back, just find a buddy who can weldYes, but you will lose the driver side tie down on the tailgate for securing loads like that. Not worth it to me but to each their own.
