I had the tailgate assist on my previous Rams. They were very nice there -- as those tailgates were very heavy to lift with 1 hand. The Maverick's tailgate is light enough to lift with a few fingers. I won't be buying one for it. I also do not want to lose 1 tie-down. I'll be using those a lot.

Looking for input on is it worth having the strut assists for the tailgate and the hood. Seems plausible, but not really necessary, just like Door Window Deflectors.

> Ford Accessory: Tailgate Assist is on eternal backorder and DeeZee does not list it (haha, like DUH!)
https://accessories.ford.com/products/tailgate-assist

> MRT has hood struts for $138 (standard black finish), or $198 for color (+$60 more)

Just wondering ....... Your thoughts?
Last mod I would never do to my Mav 😉

I put the tailgate strut on and my wife loves it. She's a tiny little thing so now she doesn't have to worry about losing grip or anything and it will slowly open.

I love the tailgate strut so much, thinking by about getting another for my 2000 f150 beater truck! Only bummer is losing tie down but was able to fabricate a replacement

Yeah, I found a loop tie down that mounts to that side of the tail gate using the existing screw and it fits alongside the tailgate support cable. A little snug, but it works

A replacement tiedown should be a part of any tailgate strut kit. Anyone know of any like this?

Any one else noticed that you’re using your thighs/ knee to bring down your tailgate slowly? Or is that just me.
Thats the great thing about Mavericks being so short and tailgate being lightweight.
Both my hands are free.

Could you post some pictures and information as to where you got the loop tie down?
Thanks!

No, that's what the tailgate assist does for me, lol.

Not really, do many trucks have tie downs on the side of the tailgate like the maverick?
