Is 4k Towing Package Worth It

Thank you both for this! Ok I think I'm sold on 360. If I don't get a 4k towing package, are there other ways to keep the transmission cool? I only ask because I live in PHX, so it is hella hot 7 months out of the year.

I live in Las Vegas, where 117F isn't a rare temperature to drive in.

Without ever expecting to tow, I ordered it just for the cooling.

Lose one car to to heat death, and, well .. .

And then since I did have it, I picked up my car hauler early when having issues with the guy who was supposed to move my cars. It won't do my '72 Eldorado , but it leaves more than 2,500 for payload with the Maverick.

Well then I'm definitely not on what I suppose is the general definition of stirring the pot or trolling. To me, stirring the pot would be like, making personal attacks or arguing for the sake of arguing without reasonable evidence or anecdotal experience to back up what I say.

For example, if I said, "Anyone that buys the 4K tow and doesn't tow 4K is absolutely stupid and just throwing their money at the wall for no reason. I hope they become broke wasting all their money like that and never get to retire", to me that would be more of a troll or stir-the-pot post because it doesn't add anything helpful to the discussion.

Instead I hope to promote more of a, "Everyone is making strong arguments in favor of 4K tow, but here are counterpoints to consider before you spend your money unnecessarily." Hence my goal is just to help people get a holistic view and make more informed decisions, even if the counterpoints oppose my personal opinions or are difficult to counter against the majority opinion.

I have a 2025 Hybrid AWD Lariat with 4K tow package and I do tow, so I see it as a necessity. If you absolutely never tow or haul heavy loads, it is arguably unnecessary but for less than $1000, the added components are a real bargain:

Class III trailer hitch with a 2-inch receiver
4-pin and 7-pin connectors
integrated trailer brake controller
upgraded cooling fan
high-capacity radiator (specifically for EcoBoost models).
Auxiliary transmission/eCVT cooler to manage heat under load.
Tow/Haul drive mode integration for optimized shifting and engine braking.
Heavy-duty alternator to support electrical demands from trailer lights and brakes.
Drivetrain Tuning: Optimized final drive ratios (approximately 3.81 for EcoBoost AWD) and Tow/Haul drive mode integration for better torque and shift management.
Spare Tire: A conventional 17-inch spare tire (215/70R17) to support heavier loads.

It would offer better engine cooling, just nothing additional for the transmission. For the roughly $700 (Employee pricing) I'd get it.

I'm glad they updated "full size spare" to "conventional spare" to be less misleading. A lot of disappointment when everyone found out that the "full size spare" doesn't match the diameter of the road wheels.

Thanks for the information. So it seems that for 2026, the EB no longer gets an auxiliary transmission oil cooler with the 4k tow package, but the hybrid does get one.
