Did they make these damn things out of recycled milk gallons?

I'm hoping the hot sun "cures" the plastic and makes it a bit harder over time.

I'm wondering what some if these folks did to cause some these blemishes? It is plastic! If you hit it with something hard enough, it is going to cause some type of blemish.

I think we're harder on stuff than we realize. To think plastic isn't going to get nicked up a bit is silly.

D-I-R-T C-H-E-A-P T-R-U-C-K. They get scratched and dented. That's what trucks do. You should see my 2010 Ranger. It looks like it's been in a hundred cat fights. That's probably because I use it daily like a truck.

I repeat DIRT CHEAP TRUCK. It's not a Mercedes SL AMG. It is a dirt cheap utility vehicle, and you got exactly what you paid for. Now everyone please go key your Mavericks inside and out a few times, and we can all get over this scratching silliness.

Soon as my Maverick arrives I'm going to throw several shovels of gravel at it. Trust me, it's much more relaxing to drive around town after the first 30 or so dents and scratches are out of the way. All my fellow buyers in Asheville - I'll send you invitations to my gravel slinging meetup and you can help me season my Maverick so it blends in here in WNC.

It’s not silly. I’m very careful. Please explain how stiff bristle vacuum attachment leaves marks. If these are the scuffs after 6 months and driving mostly for fun, I hate to see it in 2 years. I thought my 2015 Colorado scratched easy. No, this is far worse. There is nothing silly about it. I love the truck. But the more scratches I see is beginning to bother me.

Being a truck is not an excuse. Past vehicles were better. 31k Lariat is not exactly cheap. If you covered the bed and called it an SUV would it then not be ok?

The interior of my 2008 Kia Sorento with 100,000 miles on it still looks almost brand new. I hope the interior of the Maverick holds up. I bet Ford will make it a soft touch interior in a few years...

I scratched the plastic of my Maverick with my fingernail on accident just reaching over to grab something out of the glove box, on my Mercedes, I can press my fingernails full force against the plastic, and scrape it back and forth vigorously and nothing at all happens to the plastic.

Every time plastic gets recycled it gets weaker. I’m betting that there is A LOT of it inside the Mav.

I bought a ceramic protectant product. I tested it on my floor mats before I went on the dash. It turned out blotchy and weird. And you cannot remove it. Scared me to move forward with permanent interior plastics. I decided I didn't want to risk my dash. I'm sure there is probably better products out there. But I'm good with reapplying protectant every month.
User manual says use mild soap and water solution on a soft cloth when cleaning interior plastic.

It's one of the main reasons I got an XL. Knowing that it will see many battle scars, I will embrace them for being an inexpensive truck.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

@Ford-motor-company
Please look into this issue...durability flaw from design of the surface finish...when folks start paying attention to details...the reports will grow.

While we applaud thoughtful design...we also want DURABILITY that FORD trucks are known for!!

Fascinating.

My mom's 64 Buick had a metal dashboard, tried to scratch it with my forehead when she ran into another car. Not a scratch on that dash. A little blood, but not a scratch.

So, why doesn't the Maverick have steel interiors? Huh, Ford?

This pro detailer talks about exterior/interior plastics on a new Bronco, heck it may have more plastic than the Maverick.... Anyways, he mentions a ceramic detail spray on interior. No idea how well it would prevent scratches, especially major ones. May not be very much hope if the plastic is as soft as some have mentioned. Mine hasn't been scheduled yet, may be next year who knows so I haven't experienced the issue yet

Buying the ceramic coating by the gallon gives one an excellent value.
