Hey all, My mom has a maverick. She purchased new, but has found the interior plastic scratches worse than any other vehicle to date. Has anyone found a way to fix or hide the scratches? Is the blue painted on, or is the plastic just a different color underneath? thanks,

I think it's molded in color and not painted.🤷🏼‍♂️
Unfortunately, it's pretty cheap plastic that scratches very easily.
If you take a look at the bottom of your thread you'll find other threads about how cheap the plastic is.
Those other threads may have an answer your question.

It depends on how deep some of those scratches are; a photo can be more insightful in that case. For minor scratches, I've read that a product like ArmorAll interior protectant would work.

I've had my truck for about 7 months, and just like everybody else, no matter how hard you try, you're gonna scratch some of the plastic. Mine were down on the door sill and bottom of the drivers' door - nothing major but you could see them. I searched the internet, and saw some recommendations for Chemical Guys VRP (Vinyl, Rubber, Plastic) Protectant so I bought some and gave it a try. It worked really well for the small scratches that I had - it puts a light sheen on the plastic that makes the scratches blend in with a little work using a microfiber towel. I was a little leery about using this stuff on interior plastic, but it ended up making all my interior plastic (door panels, kick panels, etc.) look really cleaned up. It doesn't completely get rid of the scratches - if you look really close, you can still see some, and with this plastic, they're never going away - but it makes it pretty much unnoticeable to people if they don't know they're there. And it works excellent on exterior plastic too, plus putting a nice clean shine on the tires. It's relatively cheap ($10-$15 for a bottle), and you can get it at most auto parts places, or online (Chemical Guys website, Amazon, etc.) Might be worth a try since it's cheap, and it won't hurt anything to try it.

This should help prevent scratches before they happen on the lower door panels. $20

Try a baby wipe on some of the scratches on the orange parts. Works like a charm. Not sure about the blue parts....as I haven't scratched any of those areas yet.

I spray a little Chemical Guys Hydro Shield on a rag and wipe and the marks disappear.

I have both of these products installed on my 2025. They have saved me a lot of scratches!

However, the rest of the blue interior is just as scratch prone. I've had great success removing the scratches elsewhere using a heat gun on low heat. This only works if the scratches are shallow enough to not catch on your finger nail, but if done right, the repair will be invisible and the texture of the plastic will be preserved.

Let's not forget that the cheap plastics in the interior actually look pretty decent for a vehicle which was the lowest cost vehicle in the entire ford lineup when it was released in 2022. And also, it is a truck after all, and if you use it as a truck, some scratches are inevitable.

My plastics were getting a bit scratched up. I used a wool pad on a short stroke DA with Aerospace 303 on low-medium speed. Took out 95% of the scratches. Wool pads are slightly abrasive when wet. Ill do the entire interior and post up pics when Im done. Working out fantastic.
