I'm about to install the wiring harness that eliminate the auto start / stop feature. I just had two question for anyone who has installed one:

First, In PA we have annual vehicle inspections. Will installing this harness cause the vehicle to throw any codes or illuminate any dashboard warning lights that would cause you to fail inspection?

And would there be any issues with the vehicle's warranty if you install this harness?

Thanks

It applies the button, by having the switch closed permanently.
But allowing a bypass if you do want the system on (if this is same as the one I looked up way back).

Dealership would likely never know - just figuring it's disabled for one of the other many reasons. That they'd rather not deal with.

Anyone else - probably assume it's default off.

So whatever effects you get - are the exactly the same as pushing the button, because that's what is happening in the chunk of material that isn't cable.

Why it's pretty nice cheap solution to Forscan, which will potentially be overwritten on many software updates. And if you had some strange issue being investigated, might be noticed by an experienced tech as not being As-Built data.

Out of curiosity, do they have this figured out in forscan for the 25+ crowd?

From what I understand, that would be a no on both. I am going to be installing one soon, please let us know what you use and how it goes!

This is the one I ordered. I said "about to install" but that was a bit of an exaggeration. It should get here next week. The videos I watched look pretty simple.

Hopefully they spent time on the popping the plastic off nicely to avoid scratches and broken pieces.

Now you get to find out who put something in the mystery slot!

That's the same item I installed about 8 months ago. It won't throw any codes, simply mimics pushing the mode button. I used 2 credit cards to remove the plastic cover. It popped right off without marring the finish.

If you mean does Forscan disable Auto Stop/Start on 25+ year models the answer is yes. I did it the first week I owned my Maverick with a build date of Nov 2025

If this is for a 2025 you might as well forget it. I had to return mine. The video that they show for installation is apparently on an older model. Ford has gotten wise to this and there’s no way you’re going to access the connector without doing some serious damage.

This video is for 2025-2026 models. It doesn't look too difficult to me.

That’s definitely not a 2025 XLT. I wish it were that easy. There is no nut and bolt. I could barely feel the screw head, probably a torx, but there was no way to get any kind of tool in the space. Considered cutting the shield off, but stopped short. I’ll just have to keep trying to remember to push the button. Thanks

It's a Lobo, which didn't exist until 2025.

There are other options for disabling the A/S/S beyond digging into the center console.

So i went out and popped off the side panel. My 2025 XLT looked exactly like that video. I easily placed a 7 mm socket on the screw and started to remove it. (Didn't take it off all the way since I don't have the part.) I see no issues installing the stop/ start in my truck.

Does anyone know what that rubber band does?

Interesting. Mine doesn’t have a bolt, or a rubber band.
