Happened on my Tacoma, they left the valuable part. and took my resonator also. You can't really reach either of them as they are very closely coupled to the engine or turbocharger.
I could see a crackhead thinking that the resonator might be a catalytic converter and sawing it off, though.
Exactly my thoughtsI read other replies and it's your truck so if you want to remove the badge, feel free. Maybe the spot is intential and its there so they know where to place the badge. ???
My first question would be what prompted you to remove the badge in the first place?Looks like a spot where they put no paint on the tailgate. I checked the badge to see if any paint came off with it, but there was none. Anyone else see this?![]()

I was just thinking to remove the hybrid badge yesterday. This looks like a unique truck you have. Now, I’m hesitantLooks like a spot where they put no paint on the tailgate. I checked the badge to see if any paint came off with it, but there was none. Anyone else see this?![]()
I took the Hybrid badge off my ‘23 silver XL. No paint defect underneath the badge. I used a heat gun on low and dental floss.I was just wondering if anyone else had removed their hybrid badge and had seen the same thing. Thanks everyone.
Yes, the ISO9000 certification is all about process quality (consistency and documentation), not product quality. And GM is very good at it, meaning they can consistently and reliably produce a poor quality product when they want to. That badge probably fell off every single one of those Cadillacs around the same age, thus justifying the ISO9000 process quality certification.Removing badges reminds me of a story an old workmate of mine told . . .
My workmate tinkered on vehicles in his spare time and really knew his stuff. Our employer was implementing ISO9000 quality standards, which at the time was 'all the rage' and we all had to endure endless meetings about documenting what each of us did on top of our regular work, so consequently, the whole process was not popular.
During one of these meetings with the ISO9000 representative, my workmate pipes up and says . . .
I had a seventies Cadillac with an ISO9000 badge on the dash, which supposedly meant that GM adhered to ISO9000 quality standards. That car was a POS that constantly needed to have something fixed that was broken, leaking or rattling and it was rusting out.
One day I was driving down the road and that badge fell off the dash . . . so much for ISO9000 certification.
Probably takes away 5hp, too. Or does it add 5hp?You realise that removing the badge invalidates any warranty claim...
Happened to someone on the Toyota Sienna forum. The catalytic converter on the hybrid Sienna is integrated into the exhaust header, so it's not a simple Sawzall job. However, that didn't stop a crackhead from sawing off and stealing the resonator, thinking it was the catalytic converter. You can't really reach either of them as they are very closely coupled to the engine or turbocharger.
