Just the normal issue of low battery charge / deep-sleep notifications. Like others, the truck has never failed to start & run. I did throw a slow charge on the battery after I got the notification, did the BMS reset (plus it then sat >8h overnight)... and all good again. Plus I thump down...
Guess what I got a few days ago...
But... I was installing a new subwoofer, had the battery disconnected, then connected, with doors open/closed, stereo on/off for the better part of the day. So I can't be sure all my messing around in the driveway caused this or if the SSM 53801 update...
No. They replaced like-for-like (non-AGM). But if the update fixed the parasitic draw issue, I should be good to go now... right? :D STILL not holding my breath.
I'm about to embark on the same install so thanks for the comment about the wiring harness (https://www.crutchfield.ca/p_541LPHFD31/PAC-LPHFD31-LocPro-Advanced-T-Harness.html)
Couple questions before I purchase:
1. Where in the truck does the Crutchfield harness tie-in - the dashboard...
Thanks for the post, Jeff! I was able to take the SSM to my dealer today (June 2025) and have them apply the update. I got a new battery out of it as well. $0
Sure enough, it took two months, but the deep-sleep thing hit again. But this time, and thanks to jeffrol48197's post here, I was able to return to the dealer with a tangible / final fix. They 'tested' and sure enough, battery was junk and the applied the SSM-53801. $0.
And here is the...
I took my '23 XLT Hybrid to the local Ford dealer for the 'Rear View Camera' recall and mentioned the deep-sleep concern as well. They apparently applied a 'fix'. "Reprogram and update the TCU". Here's the work order:
I haven't lost dome lights or received deep sleep messages since (but did...
What made us hop on the 'electronic' path when it could be a mechanical, "slim-jim" path? Maybe there's a 'known-amongst-thieves' vulnerability in the passenger door that allows a slim-jim to be used without damage?
Same!

It has been almost a year since I posted that and since then I can say:
- the 'pudding' disappears when the ambient temps are above, say, 20C/68F or when full operating temp is maintained for...
Thanks for the comprehensive review; I would echo that with my 2023 hybrid xlt in the snow/rust belt. Being a year behind you, so far I've had fewer recalls and bugs (never a deep sleep, no-start, or screen-freeze) after 15k mi. But similar to your experience, we've enjoyed the utility of it...
I've also been running CC2s. 10 months so far, through the summer heat and then a Canadian winter and I'm quite happy with them. They look amazing (IMO), are quiet and do the job well for me (all pavement driving).
[2023 hybrid xlt]
Been keeping an eye on SOC over the past month or so. It used to be that I could drive it for hours and it would only register 80% SOC.
Yesterday, I happened to get three updates/recalls done:
24S27 - BCM Software Update (tail lamps)
24C01 - IPC Software Update...
