Ford Maverick I removed the Hybrid badge and found this IMG_1800
Looks like a spot where they put no paint on the tailgate. I checked the badge to see if any paint came off with it, but there was none. Anyone else see this?

It is just missing paint. No corresponding material on the hybrid badge.

they probably had some plastic sealing the outside of the badge them they painted it and then they took off the plastic. Looks like time to put it back on . Is a little weird that is the way they did it you'd think they'd paint the whole truck then slap the badge on it. Not sure why you removed the badge - guess if you didn't want to put it back on you could pick up some magnetic something or other and put it over there. For sure trying to match the paint is not going to work out too well....

Weird. I have no explanation, but I think for a spot that small in that area, you should be able to touch up Carbonized Gray just fine. You'll want to, if for nothing else than just preventing corrosion.

Depending on the attitude of your dealer, you could bring it up as a warranty issue, but best-case, they probably assign their cheapest staff to the same touch-up task already mentioned. Good luck either way.

I believe Ford paints the entire truck first. I would imagine the badge is one of the last things put on. So, that is weird if the paint didn't come up with the decal.

they do, very early. it will be virtually impossible for the OP to prove that this wasn't damage that he did while removing the badge.

he could correct it with a touch up pen, or just put the badge back.

This could be a great thread (I'm too lazy, but people should jump on my idea) for memes...

"I removed the Hybrid badge and found this"

example - photoshop Al Gore where the badge used to be.

I am usually not negative, but I have to wonder, why a spot that is unpainted under a piece of trim matters? We all know the overall quality at Ford is not terrific.

My question is, is the hybrid badge located in the "right" spot, consistent with other hybrids? If so, it wasn't placed to cover a paint defect.

Another guess is, does the factory purposely put the dot there as a reminder in the assembly process that a badge goes there?

No, I'm not volunteering to remove mine just to answer the above question. :sunglasses:

My hybrid badge: Bottom is 3 1//2" from the bottom edge of the tailgate and 1" in from the left edge.
