Hyper Flash after Turn Signal Recall

LASFIT LED bulbs sure seem to be problematic especially in the Maverick.

What prompts people to replace perfectly working bulbs with aftermarket LED bulbs?

What do they gain except hastles like this.

Agreed, except for those back up bulbs. They were the ticket for me to make the low resolution back up camera usable at night. They made all the difference in the world for me. So far so good with those.

All, I have successfully found all the settings in the BCM to change to eliminate hyper flashing. I have all first gen Lasfit LEDs including switchback turn signals, reverse lights, rear braking and turn signal lights, and third brake lights.

See the photo below.

Under BCM you can filter to “outage” to get them all in one place. I did them one at a time but in total there should be around 4 or 5 to disable.

Note: the screenshot is just the BCM filtered to the word “outage” I did not change all of these settings that are shown.

I was thinking along the same lines. Also wondering if ALL of the rear detections need to be disabled or maybe just the "bulb" ones, leaving the LED enabled...maybe letting the system continue to work?

Does it have a Y-pigtail that allows it to interpose between the OBD port connector and its wiring harness? I'd probably remove it just on the miniscule chance it gets mis-flashed and bricks the BCM then the dealer tries to claim no fault of their own due to the aftermarket wiring.

My truck was delivered on Friday, so yes the recall was done at the factory and there are no further recalls on it.

You could probably just disable the rear ones, however I did not check each individually. I did start with the front outages only and it did not stop the hyperflash.

The hyperflash stopped after I deactivated the rest I highlighted

BECAUSE THEY ARE BRIGHTER AND MAKE YOU MORE VISIBLE.... HENCE SAFER... Geez, it's really not that complicated.

Also run much cooler and use less electricity, so a win-win-win.

So my son and I both installed LASFIT LED bulb packages in our Mavericks, (his 2022 EB AWD XLT Lux, mine 2023 Hybrid XLT Lux). He had his serpentine belt replaced under warranty, and they did the Turn Signal update, now he has Hyper-Flash. Anyone else experience this?

Now when you say "Hyper-Flash" are you referring to the lights going faster than normal or is it just the turn signal indicator inside the truck that has sped up? I also did a complete Lasfit LED bulb replacement (except the side indicator bulbs) on my 24 Maverick Lariat and my lights are operating normally but the turn signal indicator inside the vehicle goes faster.

I am having Ford Mobile service come to my home Monday to update the turn signal recall to my 2022 Maverick with Lasfit led bulbs installed in the rear tail lights. Does the hyperflash on the dash also cause the audible ticking sound to also speed up?

I've asked the same question to some people that have had it done that had the LED bulbs. And yes it is hyper flashing on the dash and doing the faster clicking like there's a bulb out. From what I understand if you have someone that has access to the forscan, it can be turned off. But that kind of defeats the purpose of the update LOL. I'm going to hold off on doing the update on mine as I do have the LED bulbs installed and I have spent about $300 to do so. They do have the built-in resistor, so I'm not sure why this is happening?

I did have Ford mobile service update the software and the update did make the dash turn signal indicators hyper flash. Since I still had a few weeks of warranty left on my Lasfit bulbs, I applied for a warranty claim with Lasfit. They quickly responded and sent me new replacement led bulbs for my evaluation. After correspondence with their customer service representative on correct installation ( correct pin polarity) I can say that the new bulbs work perfectly. Lasfit mentioned that the new bulb has a stronger resistor. I noticed that the new bulb’s have fewer led elements but they appear to be still very bright. No hyper flashing and now my software update app to work correctly also.

I am not an engineer for Ford or the LED bulb companies, but if I had to take a stab at it (from what I understand) the LED bulbs with the resistors were intended to work in a set of parameters of which makes the vehicle think the bulbs are stock/working as intended. When the Maverick came out the bulb companies were able to determine what needed to be done for the bulbs to not "hyperflash".

The Ford recall apparently (again by my understanding and not an engineer or knows the 100% correct answer) tweaked the range/values more for the truck to identify that the bulb was out / not drawing the right amount of energy. AKA this "recall" is more of a software update than any physical fix, and thus the current bulbs do not work because they are not falling in that "window".

To my understanding some are having slight success with the LASFIT T3 Bulbs, but that is because the bulb varies its wattage (or voltage, cant remember) at the first use (after every startup) to find the "window" where it will not hyperflash. Therefore the first moment or 2 of using the turn signal in the truck with "hyperflash" until the bulb finds the sweet spot and will keep that "sweet spot" until you turn the truck off. So if that is what is actually happening, I can consider it a "win" to get the T3 bulbs, but not the same as "plug and play". And yes using FORSCAN seems like a cheap fix, but I am going to use that solution until LASFIT comes out with a bulb actually tested and working for the post recall Maverick. I got an email from them a few days ago, which seemed to indicate they are working on something that could be a permanent fix, but I also have a Lariat which appears to have a different socket type than the XL or XLT.

Holding off on doing the update may work for now, but it will be virtually impossible to prevent it from being applied at some point.

It’s a NHTSA safety related recall, so it will stick out like a red light on any documentation, including the Ford service booking software. Just taking it in for an oil change will trigger the dealer to do the update. Further, any future software updates for other reasons will result in FDRS system prompts to perform all the cumulative updates.

You could tell the dealer not to do it every single time it goes in, but you know inevitably there will be some miscommunication and it will get done. Especially since it is seen as safety related in their eyes.

It would be best to get the issue resolved with the LED supplier now (or do the update and switch it off with Forscan).

Just noticed on the LASFIT website this red/bold near bottom of the lights for the Maverick...
" Note: If your Ford Maverick recently has been recalled by Ford with a software update, the Rear Turn Signal/Tail/Brake Light may not work well, and we don't recommend purchasing the LED WT21W bulbs in red for them. "

Finally reading over this thread. Have the Lasfit bulbs in all my rear facing bulbs. Guess im going to wait this out until a fix is found try for a warranty since I only just bought them in september.

I did talk with one of my ford friends and they said this recall was a Compliance Recall so it was causing a stop sell if they didnt fix it. Not sure if that means they would also do it if we brought the truck in for other reasons.
