My simple monitoring of the 12v battery charge by testing at the power points under the hood doesn't do any real good. Friday, my battery failed the Ford test at the dealer, battery replaced.
24 hours later, the indicated voltage at the underhood connections was 11.43v, actually worse than before, but, no sleep mode indication and everything works as it should. The Mav is going to sleep for the winter so it is in storage as of Friday, the start of this short story. Two days later, (today), I checked the power points again and it showed 12.46v. Whaat?? In between Saturday, and today, the Mav has been inactive and the key fob kept 100 yards away. Left the VOM connected to the power points and simply opened the drivers door. Everything came on as it should but indicated voltage dropped to 11.83v. Since the 12v battery gets its charge from the high voltage battery through the DC-DC converter, it sems pretty obvious that the charge and discharge seems to be completely independent of driving the vehicle, at least to me.
