Hi all. I have my truck coming in soon and began reading about a potential battery drain issue after not driving the vehicle for 20 hours. Has this issue been resolved by ford? Has it been acknowledged? Is there a known cause as to what’s causing it? Was this only happening with the 22 models?

I am taking mine on a road trip right when I get it and don’t want to get stranded out of town.

Thanks in advance

Hello,

So unfortunately the issue persists even with the 2023 model. Mine was built in March, I took delivery about 6 weeks ago and since then I've had two completely dead batteries and countless deep sleeps. Many times, I'll come out in the morning and the auto locks will not work, no lights come on, etc.

I don't know if it's a luck of the draw thing, pun intended, but there are definitely a lot of us who have this problem.

Early 2022 models did have a wiring harness issue that apparently has been addressed, but lots of us have trucks built many months after and are still plagued with this problem.

I invested in a good quality Hulkman 2000A battery pack jumper. I just ordered a trickle charger, both a traditional plug-in and a solar powered one.

I've tried everything from disabling Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the truck, to keeping my keys in a signal blocking Faraday bag. I've tried parking far away from my house. The problem keeps coming back.

The dealer replaced my original 12 volt battery with a new one two weeks ago, the very next day my truck went into deep sleep.

It's a huge buzz kill and a terrible burden unfortunately. I wish you the best of luck, but I really suggest at the very least getting yourself a good trickle charger and a good jump battery pack in case you fall into the minority who suffer from this problem.

Last but not least, I've spoken with three different dealerships in Orange County, all of whom I suspect really don't understand what's happening. I would love to be proven wrong though...we shall see.

My truck's been at the dealer for the last 10 days and "should be" ready by Friday 🙏

Wow that sucks to hear so much. I hope when you get it back all is good again. I currently have a battery pack to jump my vehicle. I would think buying a new vehicle we wouldn’t have to deal with issues like this.

So for now the only fix is to just jump the vehicle after it dies?

If you're having a battery drain issue, please do let us know if you've done any electrical mods including audio/security systems or light bulbs. Also, any accessories plugged in.

No mods, Ford app on, all connectivity is on. I've left it for 7 days at a time. I'm 12 weeks in and read 14.6 volts at the battery. No drains. The two Flexbed 12v power leads are not working, however. The other 5 power points are fine, so I'm still not short on juice.

What's the over/under on the % of owners having a drain? Maybe 5 or 10%? I'll take the under.

I will not be doing any kind of electrical mods on mine.
I assume you’re not having any kind of power drain issues with yours?
Do you use the ford pass app at all? Bluetooth or wifi?

I wouldn't get too worried. I've had mine for only three weeks and just left it sit for four days while on a business trip. I came back and it just started up without a problem.

If you are going to take a trip right away I would recommend you get a jump box. Then if the 12v system goes dead you can still start it.

I keep a jump box in all my vehicles as part of my emergency kit.

Thanks for the tip! I do have a battery jump box so I’ll be sure to transfer it to my maverick. Do you use things like Bluetooth? Wifi? Fordpass with yours?

Our XLT brother from California has an aftermarket amp. I updated my original reply.

Beyond that, do check all the power points with the car fully on and "ready to drive". There XLT Lux has a generous 7 power points. You'll need to check USB, USB-C, 12v DC plug, 110v 3 prong plug (x2) and the two Flexbed 12v leads. You'd need a mulimeter or prewired accessory to test the Flexbed leads. Mine are not working, headed to the Dealer on Fri about it.

You are quite welcome. I use Bluetooth, Fordpass, and Android Auto. My Maverick didn't come with Wifi. 4GLTE WI-FI Hotspot was removed on the 23's

Even if you don't have the 4G hotspot there's still an option in the that may be set to use WiFi for infotainment updates.

I've got a Hybrid that was built in June of 2022. I use Ford Pass and have the truck connected to my home Wi-Fi. Basically every connectivity option that exists is turned on...

I've had zero issues with Deep Sleep, including leaving it parked (didn't run it once) it for 5 consecutive days outdoors over Christmas, with temps hovering between 7ºF and 17ºF for the entire time. Started right up when I got back in it to come home.

I do carry a Jump Pack in the vehicle, through. So far I've used it to jump start several other vehicles, but never needed it for mine.

Have them check this - brand new...

May 4 2023 New 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair, 2022-2023 Maverick – FHEV/PHEV - 12V Battery Voltage Low Or Discharged With DTC U3003:62 Stored In The DC/DC
Some 2020-2023 Escape/Corsair equipped with 2.5L engine full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain and 2022-2023Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L engine FHEV powertrain may exhibit a condition where the 12V battery voltage is low or discharged with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3003:62 stored in the direct current/direct current converter control module (DC/DC). The vehicle may also exhibit DTC U3003:16 and/or U3000:04 stored in the DC/DC module. This may be due to an open in the 300 amp mega fuse located in the high current battery junction box (BJB). To correct this condition, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-05>Pinpoint Test H1 to verify the 300amp mega fuse condition, replace the fuse upon confirm it is open. Test and recharge the 12v battery.

'22 XLT Lux build date Feb. Sleep mode issue started at around 6K miles. Ford pass connectivity was the only function affected. Dealer replaced the battery with OEM and all was good until....6K miles later as in this past week the same issue recurred. The dealer tested it throughout the day and at the end of that day the determination was......drumroll ...... another bad battery! It took a while they said because it would cycle between pass and fail during testing throughout the day. A bit of an inconvenience for sure but no signs of parasitic drain or other problems related to harness connections the likes of which have been reported here from time to time. So I have another new battery. A Tested Tough MAX, BXT-99RTA-A. I don't have much else to offer except to say at least in my case the culprit in this crime clearly points to Johnson Controls and the lack of quality control. I'll take that over some enigmatic electrical gremlin that even Ford engineers can't put their fingers on, even though it's not really acceptable. I had a '94 F-150 that I had ordered brand new and the Motorcraft battery in that thing served me reliably for 7 years! That's some hard Ohio winters and some pretty hot summers it cycled through. I wonder what has changed? Now JC does produce the AMG which I'm told is more reliable but that will have to wait until after the 3/36. And of course it will set me back around $200. Until then I guess I'll just keep playing the game. Good luck friends!
