No negative effects of pulling fuse 11. I said “if there were any negative effects…”.
I have kept the fuse out.
Fuse out alone should solve the battery drain problem. My truck was fine for a wk without the fuse and with the small 390 CCA battery. I took the bigger battery Ford offered me for peace of mind and it was free. I’m not taking any chances tho. I’m leaving the fuse out.
Cheers
Peace of mind. That says allot. And you got a free larger size battery. Now thats really nice

Thank you for the info.
I saw the weize battery at ebay.

Thank you.
I did see this battery on ebay: Weize Platinum AGM Battery BCI Group 47-12v 60ah H5 Size 47 Automotive Batter... for $132, with free shipping.

And another company sold exact battery from description on ebay for $275. Don't know how to reconcile that battery prices.

I say on my current battery 390A on the label.

Do you think the battery above is the battery you brought? I saw h4 on stock battery and h5 on weize battery. Does that refer to physical size?

I say what looked liked a vent hole on side of battery.
Did you take your vent tube from old battery and put in the new battery or does new battery come with tube?
Why spend money on a battery u don’t need? Ur truck’s still under warranty right? Discuss with Ford Customer Service Mgr of ur problem and u understand there’s a bigger battery now. They don’t even carry the 390CCA battery anymore so obviously, Ford new it was undersized and a problem. They should upgrade it for u and install it free of charge. They did for me. I’d still pull fuse 11 tho to b safe. Save ur money.
Good luck.

It was cheapest to get it directly from the Weize website when I bought it ($105 shipped), so I bought it there. Here’s the exact one I purchased:

https://www.weizeus.com/products/we...6-months-warranty?_pos=1&_sid=cb99384d2&_ss=r

I can’t remember if the new one came with a vent tube, or if I had to take the vent tube off of my old battery. Either way, I was able to get the vent hooked up.

Glad to know they don't stock the battery anymore. thank you
I don't have problem yet so not going to talk to dealer yet, but got a warning 3 days ago, saying low battery.

I checked the battery this morning before driving and it was at 12.2 volts.
Yes I do believe the fuse is a good idea.
Thanks for encouraging about not wasting money.
Can't spend freely anymore. I'm 70 year old now

Yes. (sure you saw H4?)

Actually use that link I gave and go to that site - you should learn what the different sizes mean, 2 different systems used, ect.
Some are about equal - some are not, some are close enough, some are hard to find, or expensive due to rarity, ect.

For example, matching to the spec'd BXT-99RT4-A battery, Group 99R DIN T4 - 470 CCA & 585 CA would be:
O'Reilly Super Start Extreme 99EXT
NAPA The Legend 7599RMF
AutoZone Duralast T4-DL

See pic. I have h4 battery. That means size?
Therefore a h5 battery would not fit my space without alterations. Right?

thanks for your reposne.

Maybe I’ve missed something in earlier discussions but why not just use Ford’s Mastercraft 470 CCA? Guaranteed to fit and possibly supplied and installed free by Ford. That’s what happened to me when my H4 under warranty kept dying.

The standard battery is an FLA type battery (flooded), not an AGM. The size is Group99R/H4 T4. (edit: thanks @Johnkn )

As reported by many: the Maverick Hybrid electrical system does much better with an AGM in there.

If you're looking for an OEM replacement Group99R/T4 battery online you will likely end up with another FLA battery, as most of these batteries listed above are flooded type.

You can also install a very commonly available H5 battery, and many of these are listed as AGM type. and they are relatively low-cost actually. However: this battery is physically longer, so you have to cut off a steel bracket below the seat to make it fit in the Maverick Hybrid and now it is not as secure as it otherwise would have been.

I found that Group140R (also listed as H4/LN1) type batteries can be found as AGM batteries, the most common application is actually the Chevy Bolt and it requires an AGM too. This battery drops right in, it is exactly the same size and shape as the stock Maverick Hybrid battery. Plus it has more reserve capacity than the standard FLA battery.

The exact Group140R battery that I installed seems to be available again: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM3KNG1H

So far: it works great, I have about 12k miles/6mo on it since installation.

I will definitely put this response of yours in my saved folder for future need. I sure do thank you.
Wish I didn't have a in car battery location instead of under hood. I have been using
EverStart batteries sold at walmart for years and they all lasted longer then the warranity. The
last, a 3 year battery went 5 years. The only problem is Walmart does carry those batteries that are vented.

Thats what I would do. Easy is better for me at my age.
I just see stories on forum that members say their batteries failed three times in a row, took to dealer. Dealer says battery is starting truck now (when they brought to dealer) so were not going to install another battery. But as you mentioned prior they discontinued the 390CCA battery ( i think it was you saying that).

Yes this would be my first direction to take, listen to your advice, and see what happens. And they installed it free also. What a sweet deal. So glad for you

That's not even the current battery used - it's likely only what they had at the time of build.
It's been upgraded perhaps also due to issues with that smaller one.

The space can hold bigger battery than H4, but as comments point out, too big doesn't fit either.
Obviously the space can hold smaller batteries too.

And the battery spec makes clear in the manual - Group 99R (meaning Positive terminal on right), or T4.
This is likely the max size without modifications being required. Length has maybe another 1/2 inch, height maybe 1/4".

If you can find another H4 that has better specs - go for it.
If you can find a better 99R/T4 with better specs, or the same but not Motorcraft - go for it.
When it's time.

As most of the threads on this point out - while the specs may be fine for the simple job this battery needs to perform on a hybrid (like CCA don't matter much) - Ford's Motorcraft built ones seem to do a poor job with quality. (and the truck settings dealing with it recharging aren't helping any in some use cases).

After going to the dealer and being told to "drive more" and being told my aftermarket amp install was draining the battery, I didn't want to argue with them. I had read from a lot of people in here that the hybrid is programmed for an AGM battery. I tried the flooded route and the truck killed the battery within 2 months. I then installed an AGM battery on May 11th of this year and the battery is great.

It took a couple weeks for the computer to cycle up with the AGM battery (got a couple of sleep messages) but since then no dead battery or sleepy poo messages.

Some very knowledgeable people in MaverickTruckClub said that AGM batteries take longer to drain and charge back up faster than the flooded golf cart batteries the hybrid comes with. This is perfect for our trucks. I also reset the battery BMS. I don't have access to Forscan, but my next step is to have the charge level changed to 90% instead of the 80% that forscan has it at.

Yes, I bought my own. I don't care. The fight with the dealer would have cost me more in time than what it would be worth. I make around $300 per job, and to loose work while going back and forth to the dealership trying to make things right was not worth it for me. When you are over 60, time is precious and spending time arguing with an entity that clearly is clueless is time that I can be spending with family, friends and anything positive. Plus, they wouldn't have installed an AGM battery.

However, there are many in here that live in Texas, and Kansas that have dealerships that actually did the right thing the first time. Installed an AGM battery. Wasn't going to happen here.

Hey thank you for that information. i have 23 xlt, about 3200 miles. Got a warning message "battery low energy" something like that anyway.

What kind of battery manufacturer, group size, etc did you get? Where? About what was the cost? Did it slide down in the compartment rather easily?

I don't want to make things complicated but I'm older, almost 71 years, and I rather spend time with family then aggravation, although I will try dealer at least once if and when needed.

After that I would like to use information you can provide about questions above.
