I'm wondering why people think moving a battery means a warranty issue. Electrons really don't care where the wire goes.

That said, if there were room under the hood that's where it would already be. I think you'll be stuck putting it in the bed in some made-up enclosure.

IMO, I would imagine Ford has untold numbers of lawyers that will conclude this that or the other had an affect on the issue said warranty claim. bla bla bla That's my guess and interpretation of their warranty, page 15....

The New Vehicle LimitedWarranty does not cover any damage
caused by:
• alterations or modifications of the vehicle, including the body,
chassis, electronics or their components, after the vehicle
leaves the control of Ford Motor Company
• tampering with the vehicle, tampering with the emissions
systems or with the other parts that affect these systems (for
example, but not limited to exhaust and intake systems)
• the installation or use of a non-Ford Motor Company part or
software (other than a certified emissions part or software) or
any part or software (Ford or non-Ford) designed for off-road
use only installed after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford
Motor Company, if the installed part fails or causes a Ford part
to fail. Examples include, but are not limited to lift kits,
oversized tires, roll bars, cellular phones, alarm systems,
automatic starting systems and performance-enhancing
powertrain components or software and performance “chips”.
Your vehicle may allow, enable or facilitate the use of certain
non-Ford Motor Company software. Ford is not responsible for
the functionality of such software. Ford may disallow,
discontinue or modify your ability to use such software at any
time without prior notification or incurring any warranty or
other obligation. Non-Ford Motor Company software may be
governed by End User License Agreement or warranty provided
by the software provider. For Ford Motor Company software
see End User License Agreement found in the Owner Manual.

i doubt the inverter has the power to spare to drive those amps for your subs.

surely you can move the 12v battery wherever but again keeping the resistance values/voltage drop stock so the inverter can sense voltage and charge correctly is going to be complicated but maybe not impossible.

noone knows yet how sensitive those electronics are. we also do not know the capacities of the inverters either.

i think you should trade it for a ecoboost that way you are back in the familiar territory of having an alternator to drive your amps that can be upgraded to provide the power you need.

There are also lots of lawyers on the other side

I want argue any point on either side, makes me no difference, I'm just merely pointing out that there is a big risk that could affect an 8 year 100,000 mile warranty on covered parts in case that wasn't considered. Roll the Dice

Don't spread FUD.

This is directly from the Maverick service manual

" The DCDC is protected by a 50 amp high voltage low current fuse located in the high-voltage BJB . The DCDC steps the high-voltage down to a low-voltage (between 13.0 and 15.5 volts, depending on vehicle needs), providing power to the vehicle low-voltage battery systems. Depending on the vehicle and environmental conditions, the DCDC is capable of outputting up to 265 amps to the 12-volt battery. "

12V power should not be a problem.

thanks for the info.

what is the continuous amp rating and the duty rating on the DCDC? does it have a separate sensor wire for voltage or is it using the charging cables or an ecu signal?

totally surprised at the peak rating on the DCDC!

At the same time, OP is more talking about unauthorized modifications, not simply repairs/maintenance where they can’t deny your warranty so long as you use replacement parts of comparable quality which don’t directly cause the issue that results in a warranty claim…

That’s a distinction for lawyers to sort through, either before proceeding with such modifications or after an issue crops up.

I'm building an SQ competition system in my truck. Here's one I did a while back in my VW.
Ok, I have to ask. What exactly is that? No idea what it even does.............

I had the same thought as you. According to ole Google, it stands for Sound Quality. Makes sense given that IMPRESSIVE picture the OP showed.

Ok. But what does it do? I'm guessing sound yep but then what?

Note: I turned the radio on in my truck once and didn't like all the noise so I turned it off. That was maybe 1980 or so, haven't used it since. So sound quality / music / whatever I am completely clueless.

The most annoying thing with my Jeep Cherokee is that when you start it the radio automatically turns on. Doesn't matter what the setting was when you shut the Jeep off, it wants the radio ON. And I want it OFF, so I have to turn it off every time I get in.

The 265 amps could be continuous under ideal conditions. The DCDC converter is liquid cooled with a circulation pump and radiator. The DCDC is smart and communicates with other modules over the Mav's CAN bus. If it gets too hot it could cut back on the power output.

The DCDC module gets the 12V battery voltage from the Body Control Module (BCM) over the CAN bus. The BCM measures the voltage with a sensor on the negative wire to the battery.

Considering Ford publishes a modifiers guide... https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/...3_Maverick_Hybrid_Modifier_Guide_10-25-22.pdf
They expect it to be modified, as long as it is done properly.
