I've always wondered does it save that much gas in regular driving conditions like just normal stop light in a smaller town? I'm sure it helps in heavy city traffic obviously. I also wonder if all the constant restarting bad for the battery, starter, spark plugs etc? I feel like when I get my truck I'll probably turn it off most days. Do you guys use the auto start stop or do you turn yours off?
Most of the wear on an ICE is on startup and while stopping an engine for a few seconds during a run cycle is not as bad as it is after sitting hours, there is no oil pressure at initial start up. I can't see this being a positive especially with the lighter oils we now use.

No, I dislike it for the wear it puts on ALL moving parts in the engine.

Hated it and that's why I disabled it. Also they say it can wear out your motor quicker because of the stat up and stop all the time. Just what I read

I'm rather indifferent about Auto Stop/Start. After increasing SOC to 95%, it seems like I can go longer without topping off the battery, but I am considering disabling it. If AS/S is disabled, I'd like to know what's the next feature that stops working so I'd know it's time to boost the battery (on my 2018 F-150 the passenger side door wouldn't unlock by touching the handle). Does anyone know?
TIA

I don't mind it at all in my Hybrid, not using any gas while stopped and start off in electric.

Hate it. From my estimation it saves about a liter in gas for an hour of engine stoppage. I would think the wear and tare on engine components exceeds any gas savings.

I hate it. Was the first thing I turned off. I live in a city of 230,000 with lots of stop lights, stop signs and this was not saving me any gas. Was a pain to keep starting vehicle. Might work well in other places but not in the midwest.
What would save a LOT more gas is timing traffic lights so that you don't have to stop and start so often. That used to be a thing, but apparently, is not any more. Ideally, you should be able to drive down the road at a reasonable speed, say 40 mph, and rarely, if ever, encounter a red light once you're in the flow pattern.

Gas mileage would increase a great deal, and trips would be a lot less stressful around town. The biggest contributor to the difference between highway and city mileage is the stop-and-go conditions in the city.

Frankly, many of the traffic lights around me ought to be a flashing yellow for the main thoroughfare and flashing red for the side street/parking lot after 10 PM anyway. There is NO reason to have a red light on a road passing a shopping strip that is closed, or a side street where people have ample opportunity to proceed between the infrequent traffic at night.

I was an on-the-road salesman for 10 years, averaging 48K miles/year. Four days a week I probably stopped then started the engine 12-16 times/day due to sales stops, etc. I never had any issues with a starter, nor plugs, etc.. With the Hybrid it is in electric drive at stop, and starts without notice when I press the accelerator pedal again.

I loath it, I consider it a hazard and make sure if it is off or disabled

Instead of purchasing a Start-stop Eliminator, I recommend investing into Forscan and making the easy change to get rid of it. And then you have Forscan to make any other changes you would like.

In my case and mainly my age, in my youth, if your vehicle died at a stop sign, that was a really bad event. You just might have to get out and push your POS out of the intersection. I don't like the start/stop, and I don't care how advanced it may be.

Mine is on all the time, i see no point on shutting down, it works and do what's supposed to do, save a bit of gas but more important it reduces the unnecessary Co2 production, I would love mine to stay on longer but the in summer with the 95+ temperatures it doesn't activate that much.

I believe this feature exists primarily to improve the EPA fuel economy numbers because the standardized test involves extended idling in Drive at a stop. If I had the EB version, I would definitely do something to disable it. I'm sure the starter design has been upgraded to withstand additional use, but I've had to replace a ring gear that was damaged by a failing starter and it's no small task. The whole concept seems like a cheap solution to a marketing problem, and likely benefits a very small number of owners.
