First…….There is no starter motor in the hybrid.
Second…..I just got my Lariat hybrid last week. Yesterday we took a 100+mile trip for personal business. Had a deadline to get there, so took the highway. For break-in purposes, in order to vary engine speed, took the back roads home, varying from small town centers to country roads. Temps were in the 20’s.
Had plenty of heat on the way out. But, on the way home, while I could watch the MPG’s climb from mid 30’s to high 30’s, every time the engine shut down, the heat would disappear! With the dual zone heating, I had my side on as low as I could, in order to give the bride all she could get on “high”. Still cold in the cab.
I think that I will try driving in “sport” mode and see if that helps. I know that I had been in “eco” mode, and moving to “normal” helped quite a bit. If I could disable start/stop on cold days, I would.

Sounds like you were running the A/C AND the heat at the same time.
Best to just leave the heat all the way up on both zones. It's not going to "steal" heat from the other zone....

I have the auto start stop eliminator. The nice thing is it still let's you activate the auto start stop when you want it. I have one traffic light that's unusually long on my way to work. I activate it for that. Other times I just leave it turned off.

I have had it automatically restart the truck when sitting stopped in traffic with A/C on. EcoBoost the A/C compressor runs off a belt on the engine, so when the engine is off it's just running the fan. I am betting the cabin since it's a digital temp control has a sampling thermometer. With high/low deviation. When it reaches that threshold temp it restarts the truck to maintain set temp hot or cold.

I posted that nearly 23 months ago. Steep learning curve!
When it’s cold out, <30, I’ll put both sides on “high”. As things warm up, I’ll slowly drop, in 10 degree implements, my side, until I’m comfy, leaving her to do her own adjustments.
However, the more highway miles, the better. If there are a lot of city miles, then the Mav will start the ICE more often, just to keep us warm, dropping MPGs.
Small price to pay to keep warm.

I have been noticing lately that my 23 Lariat Lux has not always been auto stop/start when I come to red lights, etc.... and that was starting to worry me. I have not turned off the button or bought one of those eliminators that most are talking about. I actually dont mind the feature. But after reading this post, I did some searching. I cant find more detailed information but this is from/on the website version of the owners manual that I found under the "auto stop/start - troubleshooting - FAQ's "...

AUTO-START-STOP – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why does the engine not always stop when I expect it to?
The system is designed to work in a way that complements other vehicle systems, allowing them to operate at optimum performance.
The system does not stop the engine if:
  • The driver door is open.
  • Your vehicle is at high altitude.
  • The heated windshield is on.
  • The engine is warming up.
  • The outside temperature is too low or too high.
  • The battery charge is low.
  • The battery temperature is outside the optimal operating range.
  • The engine is required to run to maintain interior climate and reduce fogging.
Why does the engine sometimes restart when I do not expect it to?
The system is designed to work in a way that complements other vehicle systems, allowing them to operate at optimum performance.
The system restarts the engine if:
  • You switch the heated windshield on.
  • You switch maximum defrost on.
  • Your vehicle starts to roll downhill in neutral.
  • The engine is required to run to maintain adequate brake system assistance.
  • The engine is required to run to maintain interior climate and reduce fogging.
Can I permanently switch the system off?
No.The system plays an important role in reducing the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions.
Will the frequent engine starts cause parts to wear out?
Your vehicle has an enhanced battery and starter motor that are designed for the increased number of engine starts.

So seeing I live in the midwest and it has been chilly out lately and I have some heated features on in the morning, it appears that the truck has parameters it needs to have before it will allow the stop/start to work. Hope this may help
I picked up my 2023 in April and the feature never really worked even on mild days when I was not running the AC. Occasionally it would work when I did have the AC on. I think it is definitely a battery issue and others have said the battery management system limits the charge to 80% and the start stop does not work below 70%. I found my battery lost 20% by voltage overnight after I charged it to 100% using my battery tender so the feature worked for a couple of days after that.

If you do not drive a lot and the battery SOC dips to below 70% the computer will shut down A.S.S. so no need to keep switching it. I have not have A.S.S. since about the third day I have owned the truck and I have had it about 3 months now.
