I'm not suggesting that while actually driving at 75+ mph they have returned 40 mpg, but I don't think I've averaged less than 40 mpg on a tank on my 22 or 23 Maverick Hybrids irrespective of my driving conditions.. My 1-week fishing trips are 450 each way, then 100 miles locally, so ~1k from and back to my home. Of the 450, perhaps 325 is Interstate or PA Turnpike... My last trip in my '23 before I sold it was 40.4 mpg, my '22 did the same. I have another trip coming up and I'll take my '26.

.
Yes I understand now. I to have to deal with the extremely profitable PA turnpike. I have looked for alternatives and have found a possible way to bypass the whole thing with a 30 minute increase with a meal at a fantastic restaurant meal outside of Washington PA.

My gage read 5% to 10% higher than hand calculated depending how much gas is pumped upon the 2nd click. The above statements are for 90% of the MPG gage.

The Maverick Tremor requires liquid cooling for the Transfer Power Unit (TPU), the Ranger doesn't. This suggests that the Tremor is under-designed and this is probably why it is limited to 2K tow capacity. BTW, when I changed the TPU and RDU units on my 2024, 8 month old Lariat, the cases were hot to the touch. I've never seen cases that hot in my 50 years of off-and-on service work. However, people have documented 100,000+ miles without trouble inside the cases. The aforementioned cooling issue and 2K vs 4K towing capacity is why I bought the Lariat. I am casually looking at the Ranger for a real truck but I am intrigued by Maverick ST rumors of 300HP engine for '27. My Lariat is a fine truck in my opinion. I've hinted to my wife that she could have the Lariat to replace her 2.0 liter '22 Malibu, which BTW is quicker than the Lariat but not near as comfortable. Then I can sneak in a Ranger or Maverick ST. I have never liked "big Iron", not even a consideration for me. What I'm saying is, IMO, there is no perfect solution so go with the one that pleases you most. Or buy one of each (not on my dimes).:sneaky: I hope it works out for you.

Is that hand calculated or are you going by the computer? Mine shows above 40mpg most of the time on the computer but once I hand calculate it comes in at 37-38. The best MPG I ever got was 39.7 hand calculated and the majority of my driving is city on my 25'AWD.
Either for me. The difference in my hand calculations have only been ~.5 MPG.. All (3) of my Mavericks have been identical XLT FWD models...

Gas is now 3.29 a gallon. It may be higher, since i haven't left the house today, I haven't gotten 40 mpg on my hybrid, but it is usually 38 or so. I guess your answer lies in how you drive. If you drive 50% on the highway, or drive like you stole it, get the Tremor. If you do a lot of city driving, go hybrid. I have given up the Mustangs, Corvettes and Cameros and don't need to be slammed back in the seat with smoking tires and roaring V8s. Damn! Forget the Mav, there are a lot of muscle cars out there! Smell the adrenaline! Yeah, get the hybrid, fewer tickets.

6 Month ago I had a chance to buy a Ford Maverick Tremor (2025) 40k. I sat in it for 15 minutes trying to get comfortable. But I couldn't find that comfort. I sat in a Ford Ranger, and I thought it was much more comfortable. Now I am lost, not knowing if I want a Maverick (Tremor or hybrid) or a Ranger. I feel like I wasn't givin enough time to find my proper seat position for the Maverick.

In my mind this is what I would expect to get if I pay 40k or more.

Seat heaters
Leather or fake leather seats.
Backup camera camera blind spot monitoring etc.

Any Advice? Who here takes long drives in their Mavericks? Do you find yourself comfortable?
I think a lot may depend on your age. In 1988, I upgraded from my Courier to an XLT Ranger. I never thought I would get used to its driving position (just different from what I was used to). Eventually, I must have gotten used to it because I kept that vehicle for over 155k and made many 1500 mile plus trips. I was just in my thirties then, however. I find the Lariat seats fine in my Maverick, even though I was skeptical of the vegan leather when I bought it. I love the 47 MPG I'm averaging (hand calculated) although few of my miles are on Interstates.

Sometimes the angle just doesn't feel right. I added 3/4 of an inch in spacers under the rear of the seat. That changes the angle just enough to take pressure off the lower thigh.

I’ve got a 2022 Hybrid and I honestly love the truck. Mine has turned into a full project build at this point, but even before all the mods I was impressed with how good it is as a daily.

For comfort, I think a lot of it comes down to getting the seat set up right. I’ve done plenty of longer drives in mine and it’s been totally fine. It’s not a luxury truck like an F-150, but for the size and price it’s a really comfortable and easy vehicle to live with.

What really makes the Hybrid great is how usable it is. I average around 35 mpg, which still blows my mind considering it’s a pickup. I use the truck constantly for hauling gear, running around town, and going on trips, and it’s been super reliable.

Mine has evolved a lot since I bought it. I’ve lifted it, added wheels and tires, racks, lighting, bed organization, and a bunch of other stuff. I use it for hauling equipment, camping gear, and just generally putting it to work. Even with all the extra weight from the build, it still drives great and gets excellent fuel economy.

For me the Maverick hits a really nice balance. It’s small enough to be easy to drive and park, but still a legit truck when you need it. Between the MPG, practicality, and how versatile it’s been, it’s easily one of my favorite vehicles I’ve owned.

The 40k trucks sold today have the same build quality as the ones sold for 20k in 2022.

Do with that what you will. 😎

If you go with the Maverick, I would personally go hybrid. That's the true value of these these things.

Did the tremor have power seats? I found the power seat way easier to "tune" to my comfort than the manual seat, for what that is worth.

On the 2025 Tremor driver side is powered and passenger is manual

Like others subjected renting both vehicles is your best bet, if you're looking for confort the lariat is the way to go, if you go for the maverick the hybrid awd is the way to go, not only for the mpg but the resale value as well.

I tried this, the only place I was able to find a Maverick to rent was Turo. Nothing local

My 2025 Lariat is great, was getting cramped and stiff at 30 or 40 mins in a lot of vehicles, done 2 hour stints in this and been fresh as a daisy.

Gas mileage dives in extreme cold, but then it does on the EB too, mine has still not been under 29mpg in the freeziest, pretty near 0F, when econoboxes with smaller motors I have had previously in those conditions, did 26, 27. Or if they were 5" clearance sometimes 19mpg because they were pushing snow  However, the advanced cruise control is a bit of a gas hog, getting like 3mpg worse on similar trips. So you seldom see 40+ on that. Slippery mode is a bit of an eye opener for gas saving, does best. Eco mode seems useless, IDK what conditions it does well in , but I haven't found them, I do better in normal.

Mine was still running in going into the cold, gas change and tire change, so IDK what my ultimates are in decent weather. Saw an encouraging 45 on a rural road dozen mile jaunt a couple of days ago when the weather went several degrees above freezing, still with winter gas and tires.

My gauge has been in 1% fill error range the times I checked it. Though I didn't check it in the nastiest weather where I needed prewarm to soften up the ice over all the glass several times, which probably made gauge underead. Normally I get in and go.

Anyway, like driving it a lot, sometimes I think it feels like a GT car that they inexplicably added a bed to.
