I just installed Summit Trail Climber, SUV2 which are not an aggressive tread. They are 255/50R20 700 tread wear and AA UTQG rated. They are smooth and quiet and stick to the road really well. The increased traction reduced my fuel economy, but I like the look. The set was reasonably priced at Amazon. The 225/55R19 Goodyear Wrangler tires that came with my truck did really well and delivered better fuel economy.

You Younghans got me thinking, in my 58 years of driving I don't ever remember replacing tires and I hope in my time left I never do, Maybe slicks in my hot rod days back in the 60s/ 70s. If you work 6 days a week 10/12 hours a day for 55 years you could afford a new car every 3/4 years and never need tires.

What a good less aggressive tire to purchase after the stock tires finally wear out?
I just put Michellin Cross Climate 2 on my 20205 Hybrid FWD. World of difference over the stock tires and the Michellin are snow peak rated as well.

Snow for one day this year Houston area. Feezing overpasses is where cars had troubles.

I swapped out the Optional 18" Black Appearance Package Matte Black rims for Optional 18" Big Bend Ebony Black Machine Faced Aluminum rims on my Maverick. Perfect opportunity to go to a slightly larger tire.

I'm running 245\60 R18 Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 tires now. Really like them, no discernable change in fuel economy, but a bit more comfortable.. I had decent stock Michelin Primacy Tires before that, but I like these. Weight of the Pirellis is light sy 31 lbs, so nothing like all of the A/T tires available.

I just put a set of Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires on mine. The original tires lasted 45,000 miles and still had tread left.

The CC2's are not a cheap date, but they look cool and are highly rated. First set of Michelins I have ever bought myself. Henry Ford bought the last set of Michelins for me when I had my Explorer and they recalled the OEM (Blowout Firestones) tires.
Thats good miles. I'm with the original tires at 8,000 miles on a 2025.
Did you rotate those tires at all? how often?
Did you rotate those tires in the x pattern or just straight back front to back same side?

I have had all my service work done by my local Ford dealer. Rotation with every oil change. First on at 5000 the others done around 7000 miles.

No I haven't, I just sit and watch it snow.
It's dangerous to be on the road with drivers that have never driven in snow, I don't care what kind of tires you have, stay home, the body shops pray for that kind weather. We got hailstorm about 10/15 years ago the shops were backed up 6/12 months, the dealers were sold out of hoods and fenders the first week, we never saw hail before. I saw it coming and was on the parkway pulled under a overpass not a scratch, don't know how you guys do it that get hail. it was like bumper cars piled up all over slipping and sliding and getting pounded with hail, people still driving wanting to get home, I sat under the overpass and watched the show.

That's the thing though, I only drive 15k annually. I have X-ice too. It makes me want a summer tire that wears out a little quicker. Like rated 500-600 or so. The defenders would last me 8 summers and I'd rather get new tires every 5 years. Mich primacy is an option for me, Firestone Destination L2 or 3. Or just a retail pair of the contis.

BTW, that's a good haul for the contis, lol...
