Anyone old enough to remember when the gad peddle was hinged on the floor? That worked for everyone. I agree with the foot slipping off comment. New method may be foolproof, but still sucks.

I noticed something odd with the gas pedal placement since day 1 - Ordered fancy clip on pedal bling, problem solved - I actually have a set available but probably $10 to ship these days.

These r on my truck now -)

That link no longer works. Do you have a brand name / model number you can share? Please and thanks.

Yep! 1951 GMC pickup, hinged on the floor.

This is a really big deal for my 5 ft. tall wife. I called Ford service today. I told them I wanted them to take my concern all the way to Ford engineering. I may lemon law this truck over this issue if there is not suitable / Ford approved fix.

My F-150 had power adjustable pedals and power adjustable steering wheel. I believe my Explorer also has both.

Yur funny...... Really? Maybe should have test drove the truck first. NOT KIDDING. This is NOT an Engineering problem. Its a Consumer issue (you). We are driving cheap trucks. It is what it is. So you bought a truck. Didnt test drive and think FORD is going to do something? Its NOT a lemon at all.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR LEMON LAW!!!!!!

FORD made this for 99.9% of the population. You not having a test drive is NOT an engineering fault.

But God Bless you for trying a LEMON LAW. lol

MY wife got in the truck the other day on the drivers side. She no longer drives (because she has dementia) but just wanted to see if she could fit in and she does. MY wife is 4' 9" tall and wears a size 5 tennis shoe. I noticed right away the pedal might be an issue but after adjusting the seat almost all the way forward and raising the seat it was no issue. Now I had the key in my pocket the entire time so she could not start nor drive the vehicle but she still could have easily hit the gas pedal with no issues.

We picked up our truck last week. My wife has tiny feet and noticed she has to lift her heel off the floor to get her foot on the pedal. It is causing leg fatigue. Does anyone know if the pedal is manually height adjustable?
maybe something like this:

I may lemon law this truck over this issue if there is not suitable / Ford approved fix.
a design decision on a vehicle is not applicable towards lemon laws, and there is nothing to "fix". jfc it is like some folks don't even look at a vehicle before buying it.

And older.

Some of the 20s things I've driven have basically a nub of a button poking through the car, even though they have what we would consider full sized clutch &. rake.

Go a bit older (and for ford, still in the 20s), and you get a lever on the hub of the wheel. Most also had a floor pedal (but not ford).

You gave the folks in the service department a story that they will laugh about for quite a while.

Yeah I remember seeing those at car shows! My 1949 8N Ford tractor (a lot of other tractors also) got the throttle lever on the steering column. That was a good little tractor, I think it was like 16 HP (4-cylinder), but lots of torque and could pull some loads!

the first couple I was assigned to drive, I mistook the accelerator for the starter, and went looking for the accelerator, only to eventually find the starter!

And then there were the 50s GMs (Oldsmobile and I forget who else) where they had the bright idea to put the starter button under the gas pedal! You operated it by putting the pedal to the floor! 😱

One was starting to stall out. as I drove it across the stage, so I gunned it--not in time to prevent the stall, but it engaged the starter on the moving vehicle, much to my surprise. Lockout while in gear was yet to come . . .

There are at least 5 similar threads just in this forum alone. It's a real issue for some shorter drivers. I really don't think this is a lemon law issue. However, I plan to push this along so it gets their attention. With all optimal seat adjustment made, she needs to choose between looking thru the steering wheel to see the road and just touching the gas pedal with her toe and all of this has to be done with her heel not on the floor. She takes a size 6.5 sneaker. I did find an extender that I ordered to try. (Hoolcar Anti-Slip Gas Pedal Extender) I hope it fits and solves the issue.
