I thought I was the only one that had this issue. 5' 7" tall. I bet taller people don't have this issue.
I’m 5’5”, but never had this problem before. I have driven my 2010 Ford Edge for 105,000, never had this problem. I will try the pedal covers another person suggested and hope they help.

Had the same problem. The angle and surface of the gas pedal made it way too slippery.
Ended up getting this in black and solved the issue. The rubber strips on them make all the difference
Thanks— I will try this!

I don’t think it’s the gas pedal that’s the problem. I think it’s the driver’s choice of footwear.

I have driven 3 different vehicles in the same day, same shoes, only have that problem with the Maverick. Don’t think it’s the shoes…

Hey guys, I hope everyone understands it’s not that the gas pedal is slippery…it’s not. It’s because it doesn’t come down far enough from its position. It’s not the shoes. It’s not the rubber. It’s the position too high from the floor. If you move your seat forward to make it better than you’re too close to the steering wheel. I noticed this on the first drive back from the dealer. Never happens in my 250. Never happens in my daughter’s Subaru….only in the Maverick. Not the end of the world, but just a little bit irritating.

Correct

I have driven many many vehicles as I used to repair them. The gas pedal is just not correctly positioned. At 5' 7" once in correct seat position for brake pedal and steering wheel the gas is just a little to far. People that are taller or have bigger feat not an issue. BUT its quite real issue. Only once in a while my foot slips off end of gas pedal. I just have dealt with it. BUT will try that amazon pedal thing.

I have seen others post about this issue and I have never had this problem with the 25+ vehicles I have owned. When driving my 2024 Lariat, my foot frequently slips off the gas pedal. If I move the seat closer to help with that, then I am too close to the brake pedal and end up braking oddly.

Is there a way to adjust either the gas or brake pedal height? Or a recommendation for a gas pedal cover that works to keep my foot from slipping off? I’ve seen some pedal covers, but not sure if they would just be a waste of money.
Amazon has pedal covers for specific mavericks. I’m having issues also I ordered a set

Toyota had recall on Tacomas. 2 at the same time. one was a flash drive update for the computer system. But the other was they were cutting about 3/4 of an inch off the bottom of the gas pedal supposedly snagging on people's floor mats. I never had that issue. But wanted to do the computer upgrade. When I brought vehicle in specifically told Toyota do not want gas pedal trimmed. not bringing vehicle in for that.
Service guy said we will not do that. even said please make a notation not to do that and he wrote on the service order not to do it. He wrote on service order not to trim.
But guess what
they freaking cut the gas pedal anyway.
Which very ginormously screwed up my foot and seating trying to reach the gas pedal. being Tacoma has super lousy steering wheel adjustment range, there was no adjustment that could be made to rectify the situation other than replacing gas pedal. I went to each person I could at the dealership to tell them need to replace my gas pedal. They would not. they would not. they would not. Which was infuriating!

My fix-
Went to auto parts store and found the rubberized covers that go on any of the pedals, break, clutch or gas.
So I bought the rubberized pedal cover, created an extension shim on the gas pedal. To secure replacement rubberized pedal cover to. glued that on with the appropriate epoxy mix materials. Put the rubberized cover over the extension shim I put on the gas pedal. Added a couple of zip ties just for extra security. And that was the fix! It even brought the gas pedal a little bit closer to me which was also helpful and I like the rubberized texture much better than the hard slippery plastic texture that the vehicle came with.

That fix stayed in place no problems for the ongoing thousands and thousands of miles put on the vehicle.

* disclaimer not saying this is the best route, not saying perfectly safe to do! Since the pedal covers are made for that purpose it made sense for me to try it and it did work for me!

Agree in that Texture matters!

Have found that in more recent years many Footwear designs do not have the same grippy texture as it used to!
Even in tennis shoes. Skechers are a good example.
Now kind of a weird hardened foam that has a crust like exterior but no grip.

There is a reason skateboarders like vans!

Edit ADD
Maybe try putting some of that sandpaper tape on your gas pedal! That same kind of stuff skateboarders put on the surface of their board.

I agree about the footwear having slippery soles. I went to a large shoe store last week looking for a new pair of Skechers in an extra wide width. They all had the slippery soles. I have a pair of Skechers from a few years ago with rubber soles and plenty of grip that are my daily shoes. Hard to find them now.
Dress shoes have slippery bottoms, and I imagine that’s causing a problem with feet sliding off the pedal too. I never had my food slide off of any pedal with the many vehicles I’ve ever owned.

Experienced that same thing trying to replace a pair of slip-on Skechers.
Don't wear Skechers anymore.

Hope you can understand people are offering suggestions and solutions that may not only help you but any other readers! If you're not willing to try a solution , Maybe you have just resolved yourself to be irritated LOL  (not snarky, just sayin')
Or maybe you just posted to see if anybody else is having this issue?

As far as comfortable seating position... that has always been a conundrum as people sort through different Vehicles they may or may not like.
Can understand the conundrum,. Years after owning a Tacoma and body aging and such, had to do a lot of added pad and design work to Tacoma driving position. Bottom of seat, & backrest.
As best as it can be, is definitely not as good as what the Maverick is!

Thankfully the Maverick comes with seats that are also height adjustable!
And a lot more telescoping steering column also!

Fair point, but…. as you can see from this post and others on this forum, I’m not the only one that has noticed and mentioned this. 40+ years of driving and never had my foot slip off until the Maverick. 😎
