That jolt you were feeling is back EMF from the magnetic field collapsing on the relay coil when power is removed. You may want to put a snubber diode on the coil terminals :)
I put a Keko bar on our 23 XLT,, but mainly because we have a Keko power tonneau cover and they have a kit to allow both to be installed :)
And yes, the bar is strictly for appearance!
Redneck Garage's how-to worked perfectly for our '23 XLT. We now have 1 additional fob key and 1 key-only for a total of 4, got the keys cut by a local locksmith, then programmed them myself in the truck.

I wonder if the hybrids are more troublesome with CV joints and axles because of regen braking? Not only do the CV joints get loaded in the forward direction when accelerating forward, but they get loaded in the reverse direction when the eCVT uses regen braking.
