Full Size Spare is smaller size than other factory tires?

I ordered a FULL SIZE spare!

And you got one. It is FULL size not Donut Size.

Nothing stated on the order that the FULL size had to match exactly to the four other tires.

Thanks for posting this, it’ll save me a few bucks, at least on the order.
later not so much As I’ll have to buy a matching tire…
I never thought “full Sized” didn’t mean anything other than ”matching size”.
It doesn’t say that, it’s what I read into it, so that’s on me, my bad.
I’d hate to be the guy who loses his sh*t on a dealer or forum over my interpretation of what I bought and now happily I won’t be.

I see the spare as a temporary use item. I don't know of any manufacturer that currently uses the same nice wheels on the spare.

Under the bed and unsure on the second question. It's possible DEPENDING on which model you have.

It's still deceptive. Yeah it may have different specifications, but that usually means a sudden tire. A cheap highway tire instead of an all terrain or something, but to be a full 2" smaller than the standard tires is not "full size". If you went to a jiffy lube who advertised a full oil change, you bring your truck in and leave it, then when you go to pick it up they only put in 4qts because that's full on some cars you'd be furious.

Curious if anyone has the size for the spare on the Lariat. It comes with 18" wheels.

I'm ok in the short run with a glorified donut, since it's part of the 360 package for me anyhow. If it will fit under the truck I would like to get a tire thats the same outside dimensions as the other 4 when I get a chance though, preferably on an 18" rim.

This is purely speculation:

I see that the Maverick has the ability to temporarily disable the awd system.

This is what it states in the manual:

ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE - INFORMATION MESSAGES
AWD OFF
The all-wheel drive system temporarily turns off to protect
itself from overheating or if you are using the temporary spare
tire.

I think these trucks are smart enough to monitor wheel speed sensors and identify that you have a spare. My question is if it defaults to fwd, I expected to see something in the manual that instructed keeping the spare on the rear. Perhaps it can choose either depending on where your spare is at. i.e. rwd if you have a spare on front and fwd if you have a spare on the rear.

I speculate this because
1. It says don't use more than 1 spare tire
2. Winter/wet weather driving capability is compromised. (I read this as "you don't have awd")

edit: I will order the "full sized" spare and be OK with it. As soon as I need a 2nd set of tires, I'll mount and balance an old original 225 on the 17 spare and call it good.

I too was under the assumption that full size spare meant the same size tire as is on the rest of the vehicle. My order is very young in the pipeline. I intend to make a few changes before I get a VIN #

I would imagine the area under the truck would have to accommodate a full size tire, because where are you gonna put the flat tire when you remove it? In the truck bed? What if the bed is piled high with stuff and you have no room to stow it?
