It’s not that bad, if you remember how to program your vcr u can do this 😁.
But seriously I was nervous about messing with forscan as well but it really isn’t too hard. Just use the easy modes and you should be fine.

Thank you! My Forscan Holy Grail is enabling Eco Mode as default.
I finally broke out the FORscan and OBD adapter and dove in. So far, I've enabled the TSR (which works perfectly) and turned down the heated steering wheel temperature a bit (after watching the German My-Ford-Focus how-to video) and that worked, too. Also read up on what it will take to make the Eco drive mode default on startup, but that's WAY more hardware and work than I want to put into it. Still, it's been cool to be able to go into the trucklet and enable features that were 'hidden' away.

Even going into the AS-BUILT mode isn't too difficult, but you really have to make sure you're changing the right values...and (as always) save the configuration before you change anything, just in case.

I had no luck locating the how to video you mentioned, is the temp setting in the HSWM section?

Thanks

There is lots of useful information on MTC about using Forscan to make interesting and useful changes to the computer modules in our trucks. This post is not about using Forscan software or programming devices--you can find that information as a sticky in the Forscan forum.

This post is for those who don't speak hexadecimal* or are otherwise hesitant to change as-built codes (or for anyone who wants to make a quick change). I have compiled several changes you can make using "easy" (not as-built) mode. Instead of selecting a module through an as-built entry, look below it and there will be a module with the same name, but not as-built (not in all cases). Connect to that module. It's the same module, just named and accessed differently. The difference is that entries are in plain English [mostly]. Be sure to write the changes. Before doing any of these changes back up your as-built modules. Use at your own risk, of course, but these changes have all done well for me. I've included links in MTC for where more information can be found on these Forscan edits.
[*I know changing as-built modules does not require actually understanding hexadecimal--it's a figure of speech.]

I found one for changing the heated steering wheel temperature (if installed) that you can add to your EZ Mode list:

FORscan / SCCM / Steering Wheel Module (easy mode) / Heated Steering Wheel Temperature
Change value (in my case I turned it down from 37 Celsius to 32 Celsius) / Write

Got my cable today and did everything I could on the original post to my 24 ecoboost XL as well as use hexadecimal to turn off auto start/stop. I have a 30 minute drive tonight to make so I'll test everything when on the road but bring my laptop just in case. Used a macbook pro with a windows boot from ssd but everything seemed to work as anticipated.

Excellent! I've been enjoying tweaking mine; it's a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

[I haven't actually done this one; I have no need. However, it seems obvious that it would work.]
On my '24 XLT Hybrid I've done the following:
Enable Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
Adding Drive Modes
Stop being locked out of functions due to being in motion
Disable double honk when exiting running vehicle
Enable ECO Coach (indicators about improving fuel economy)

I also disabled the warning for rear passengers not wearing a seatbelt (search for the German YouTube vid for the Ford Focus. It's not done using Easy Mode.)

I've been able to test everything, and all appears to work. I didn't notice any difference after enabling the ECO Coach, possibly because I already had the break coach turned on. The rear seatbelt warning disable appears to only disable the chime but not the popup on the cluster. I have not noticed any bad side effects. The only difference I wasn't expecting is that some of the icons changed for the drive modes (that I already had) after I enabled all of them - namely, the Eco Mode icon.

My dream is to have Eco Mode on by default. I read some of the thread to do that with an add-on electronic switch and timer, but I don't want to go that route - at least not until we give the ForScan community more time to figure out how to do it using built-in settings. I am also considering doing the adaptive cruise mod because I expected my build to have that since I have Co-Pilot 360; I was very disappointed that it didn't. The TSR was a very welcome feature add!

Big thanks to @Toinky and all the others who have contributed to this thread! It makes searching for ForScan mods much easier when they are consolidated like this.

Congrats! So far, I've done the same tweaks as you, except I already have the drive modes and I don't mind the double-honk; I've also tried tweaking the front turn signals as DRLs, as I'm told the DRLs are expensive to replace once they burn out. I've turned down the temperature on the heated steering wheel as it was hotter than I like. The mods I've done have all been Easy Mode so far. Question re: the Eco Coach display...is yours now the circle that surrounds the digital speed display instead of the line graph? I haven't done that one yet but I plan to. Glad to hear it works on your XLT hybrid because it should also work on mine. :)

On the Eco Coach, I'm not sure if I am not on the correct "tab" on the cluster display, but it still just shows the Break Coach when I'm coming to a stop. I haven't noticed anything new there.
