Looks to heavily rely on low wind drag. Great if you ad nothing to you vehicle. BUT for people like me who have a kayak on the roof most of the spring summer and fall season its a no go. I doubt it will go 100 miles with a kayak on the roof. Yet I still get great MPG in my Mav. . The key stay under 60 mph.

Well for most who don't ad things to cause drag it might be okay. Forget any towing. Range would be really low. I have heard a 51 kw battery, if that holds true it wont be long range at all. My guess RATED 200. Real world 150 under perfect conditions unless you like to push your luck and take it till amost empty. . I will take my hybrid mav to 1/8 tank no lower and that still leaves me with at least 65 miles and gas is easy to find and fill. EV not so much.

I was hoping for some real prototype pictures I guess not yet.

That's not the final design, you can see from this areo image the actual truck has a longer hood than that sketch. You can't make out the actual lines of course, but you can see the basic proportions in this aero graphic.

Good point that is a better view of what was proposed.

Water pressure is maintained by the grid not by the water. Super Bowl flush issues are not water related but are grid related.

Stressing an already overextended grid with massive EV charging will affect your flush 💩
Owners generally charge their EVs overnight when electricity demand is low, although that is admittedly changing some as overnight temperatures rise, which means more air conditioners running overnight. Having tens of millions of EVs out there also opens up the possibility of doing things like selling back unneeded power from your battery on peak days and such, or using it yourself.

We don't have to speculate too much because China is already doing all these things as an example of whether it works, or flops badly.

Just ban the "fast" ones.
Take your fast ones to the track.
You can have em. But over so many horsepower would no longer street legal.
Again, absolutely not. You are in a miniscule minority with this plan.

And yet the “stylish” Mav competitor (Santa Cruz) sold 1 /3 of Maverick volume and was just cancelled/failed,,,, one can argue that the Sant Cruz had no hybrid, phev or EV option and that was a reason for failing,,,,,,,
And yet the different and EV Cybertruck has also mostly failed.
I’m ok w some mods to design and had a Ranchero at one time, but if it’s a truck it should should not look like science fiction, and ugly sci fi at that.
Because all massive and heavy EVs are selling like shit, even ones that look really nice like the Rivian r1t which is arguably the best looking truck on sale right now. Affordable EVs sell really well, expensive ones don't. That's why Ford is pivoting.

The issue with the SC was the reliability relative to the maverick, the DC transmission was shit amongst other things. But on top of that, it was more expensive, and didn't have a hybrid option. It was a case of paying more to get half the fuel economy, and your choices are buying from the truck king brand who has a great reputation for making solid trucks, or Hyundai who has no credibility in the truck market.

There were a lot of things beyond styling that worked against the SC. I actually thought it looked ok, it was everything else that was a turn off.

I kind of trust Ford to know their customers. I think the only truck design misstep I can remember them making was the soft and feminine version of the F150 a while back. And boy were they quick to fix that. It's not like Ford is abandoning more styling-conservative truck buyers. The manly-man F150 ain't going nowhere. Nor is the Ranger. Nor the Maverick.

If I am worred about anything, it would be the software team delivering on time. Legacy OEMs have a history of stumbling when it comes to software. It is a big lift to do a whole vehicle software stack on a new zonal architecture. Rivian and Tesla spent billions achieving that. It is so hard that VW just threw up their hands and threw away billions before licensing from Rivian (which was more billions).

Oh, I do have a second concern. I could see this truck being a hit like the Maverick, with year plus waits. That's a real concern. So I'm personally and selfishly hoping it's not a runaway hit. So I can buy one.
So the software team isn't traditional Ford employees, it's a lot of people from like Apple. The mindset was hiring tech people who really mastered software instead of trying to get old school car enthusiasts to write code that doesn't work.

TBF, I am more interested in the potential sedan and Escape sized SUV they plan on releasing on this platform, I plan on keeping my Maverick for some time but my Fusion is approaching 215,000 miles and I would be interested in an affordable EV if the price/feature set is right.

I agree. Given that Ford killed the Escape Hybrid and hasn’t introduced the hybrid powertrain in the Bronco Sport, it surprises me a little that they’re starting out with the truck vs the small crossover variant.

Yeah two sedans according to motortrend, a compact and a larger one. I'd kinda love it if a compact sedan/hatchback took some styling cues from the 90s escort whale tail but took things to the next level, and if the larger sedan was called Galaxie and adopted kinda a muscle car sedan look.

Ya. Maybe like this: probably maybe.
Yeah.... I mean, all current mainstream crew cab LD PU's all have the same basic silhouette. The devil will be in the details....

I personally wasn't a big fan of the Bronco Sport replacing the Escape, it seemed like it didn't inherit the some of the options the Escape had, that's why this platform from Ford interested me. Overall the products I was most likely to replace my Fusion with would have been the Escape and Edge but Ford killed them.

What really interested me from Ford was the potential Fusion wagon that Ford was going to place as a Subaru Outback competitor to replace the original Fusion sedan, sadly they seemed to have decided not to produce that product. But a sedan or hatchback would also interest me too.

Probably part of the now defunct “Apple Car” development team. I did not connect to the Ford App because it would drain my iPhone’s battery in less than a day😂

Ford Maverick Ford EV Truck & Low-Price Platform -- New Specs & Details Screenshot_20260219_061225_Chrom

Shows the general shape of the truck. Looks much like the aero efforts of the late 90's Taurus in the front end. Quite rounded compared to the Maverick or any other truck on the market. Ford has said size of the truck will be closer to the Maverick, but mid size.

From what I see here, it will be narrow like the Maverick for less frontal area, but maybe 10" longer cab to give that Rav4 like interior length. I expect the bed length to remain at 4.5'. The windshield slopes back pretty far, and the rear of the roof slopes down improving aerodynamics.

Ford is really engineering efficiency here. They are really investing to get this right. I just don't know if it can achieve very high sales. A lot of people are extremely biased towards EV'S, and a lot of those who aren't seem to like the Tesla formula of driving an appliance with no interior style.
