Ford's answer to the Santa Cruz?
Sorry for being so harsh, but I was hoping for mild truck styling.
I fully realize the old ranchero was car based, not based on a truck platform, but this may well be too much "car" for me. Hopefully it will look better to me in person, since I was planning to make it my next vehicle!
What I don't like about it:
I don't like the apparent lack of headroom - I hope I'm wrong.
I don't like the high-rise door skins, and therefor the correspondingly tiny window openings. At my age I need all the outward visibility I can get. Plus, at my age, I have trouble hanging halfway out of the drivers window to grab my prescriptions and food take-outs at drive-thru's!
I hope I am wrong about all of this!
To end on a better note, I do like the apparent size of the vehicle! It looks Maverick sized to me. I'm looking forward to seeing one in person!

Windows look small.

It's got a chopped and lowered stance. Or great camouflage.

I just wanna know... will it pull a 4k trailer?

I hear you about hanging out the drivers window. The other day I was at a parking garage and had to open the door and step part way out to grab my ticket, which slipped out of my hand. "Mother F@#$er" I said as the parking attendant appeared out of his booth and retrieved my ticket. I apologized for my language, and he said "no problem, you're the forth Mother F@#$er to come through my gate today"!

The high rise door skins are fake. They extend higher than the actual doors. Lots of foolery here. It sounds like a Slate might be more what you want. Even Ford said it's not really a truck. Having a bed makes it one, but not traditional in style at all. It's an aero queen.

You won't be legally mandated to buy one.

This does look a bit Maverick-esque to me. Interesting seeing the bed too and where the wheel wells are.
